Chapter 7 - Bonding..?

Sam's P.O.V

The fact I heard his name together with mine made my blood run ice cold. My whole body shivering and I couldn't help but to look over at Colby. He was looking back at me, and I could almost see a small hint of fear about it in his eyes as well. Weird.

"Sam and Colby" the principal repeated, cleaning his throat awkwardly to get our attention even more. I sigh, and I hear Lola and David both wishing me good luck from behind. I wish I could discuss this with them. I'm terrified! Then we started approaching the stage. As we had reached the platform, the principal put a bracelet onto both of our wrists. Which said 'Sam and Colby' on both. Indicating that we really were a 'team' now. I groaned lowly to myself, looking at the bracelet. Colby didn't waste a second after receiving it, and walked off the stage again. Reuniting with his friends. I decided to do the same.

"I'm freaking out" I immediately utter as I reach Lola and David again.
David immediately hugs me, and Lola does as well.
"Please come out of this alive" David whispered. I sighed and parted both their hugs.
It wasn't that serious.

"I just hope this doesn't ruin the whole experience" I spoke. They both nodded, and then we all three glanced over at Colby and his group. They were laughing about something Colby said, and I'm pretty sure it's about being paired with me. I sigh and look back at my friends who looks back at me as well.

"I have a feeling it will though" I said after a while of thinking. Lola puts a hand onto my left shoulder and squeezes it softly.
"Don't give up though. You deserve to enjoy this trip" Lola spoke honestly. I smile at her and nods softly. David smiles my way and speaks up as well, after Lola was done speaking herself.
"If you feel the need to, search us up!" David mentioned cheerfully. I smile and felt a lot more assured than some seconds ago. Ready to head on into the activities.

After the last names were said - pairing Lola and David with two of Colby's group members sadly - the principal continued onto the next step.

"Now when we're all paired together and satisfied.. here's the first 'lucky draw', which means we're going to give you a bunch of cards held by another teacher. Each pair will be drawing one card each. Whatever number that is on the paper, will be the number to your abode! So choose wisely - some abodes are better than others" the principal teases. I swallow nervously, and as the teacher went around and let people pick their card - it was getting increasingly more difficult to breathe for some reason. I'll be spending my time in a house with Colby freaking Brock.

Soon, it was mine and Colby's turn. I hesitatingly walk up to the teacher and Colby, and I allowed Colby to be the one to draw the card. I didn't really have a word in it anyway. The moment Colby shows the number to the teacher like the others have - the teacher grabs it and raises it into the air.

"Congratulations Sam and Colby!" The principal speaks. I found myself confused and dumbfounded.

"You guys got the exclusive and fancy one!" He further explains up on stage. My eyes widens, and I couldn't help but to help out 'really?!' all shocked. Colby gave me a disgusted look, then turned his heels and was about to walk back to his group. I didn't mind one bit.
But then the teacher stopped him by saying his name.

"Wait there Colby. You guys are supposed to go into your abode" The teacher informs.
Already?! I'm definitely not ready.

"Wait, we can't spend time with our friends first?" I ask the teacher directly.
"It's a critical part that you have to get to know each other, or this teamwork thingy isn't going to work. Besides, you guys will have enough time talking and reuniting with your friends every other day" The teacher answers, and I sigh slightly.
