I sat in the back, between Natasha and Steve in the stolen pickup truck. We had finally entered New Jersey and were headed for the location that we were given. I sat in silence picking at my nails when Natasha speaks up. "Where did Captain America learn how to steal a car?" She asks the blonde man next to me.

"Nazi Germany," He answers and she hums I smile at his blunt answer. "And we're borrowing. Take your feet off the dash," He says to the redhead who obliges.

"Alright, I have a question for you, oh, which you do not have to answer. I feel like if you don't answer it though, you're kind of answering it, you know?" I smirked looking at the blonde having a feeling I knew what the woman was going to ask. He looks at her as she asks the question "Was that your first kiss since 1945?" She asks he looks at her

"Did it look that bad?" He asks

"It wasn't bad at all," I pipe from the back as Natasha speaks up "I didn't say that,"

"Well, it kind of sounds like that's what you're saying," He says I laugh quietly at how defensive he sounds.

"No, I didn't. I just wondered how much practice you've had," Natasha defends

"You don't need practice," I hum in disagreement

"Everybody needs practice," Natasha says

"It was not my first kiss since 1945. I'm ninety-five, I'm not dead," Steve quips

"Nobody special though," I asked tilting my head and raising my eyebrows. Steve chuckles

"Believe it or not, it's kind of hard to find someone with shared life experience," Steve says I move back leaning into the seat biting my lip to prevent myself from smiling at the blonde man.

"Well, that's alright, you just make something up," Natasha says looking at Steve.

"What like you?" Steve says looking briefly at her and back at the road. She shrugs.

"I don't know. The truth is a matter of circumstances, it's not all things to all people all the time. And neither am I," she answers him I frown before looking at her.

"That's a sad way to live," I say looking at the redhead who shrugs again

"It's a good way not to die though," she answers I lean back into my seat once more thinking about her answer.

"You know, it's kind of hard to trust someone when you don't know who that someone really is," Steve says I hum in agreement

"Yeah. Who do you want me to be?" Natasha asks after pausing in thought looking at Steve once more who answers swiftly

"A friend," Natasha laughs at the answer

"Well, there's a chance you might be in the wrong business, Rogers," I sigh as we sat in silence for the rest of the ride.

Steve pulls up onto the abandoned military base

Steve pulls up onto the abandoned military base. I look around furrowing my brows as I looked around this place had a familiar feel but I couldn't remember. "This is it," Steve says looking at the gate.

"The file came from these coordinates," Natasha says

"So did I," I stood in silence as I touched the fence trying to remember. I look at Steve as we enter the base. We walk around looking for the place the signal came in from. "This camp is where I trained," He says

"Changed much?" I ask

"A little," He replies. He looks deep in thought as he stood staring through the base.

"This is a dead end. Zero heat signature, zero waves, not even radio. Whoever wrote the file must have used a router to throw people off," Natasha says Steve stops and stares at a building.

"What is it?" I ask

"Army regulations forbid storing ammunition within five hundred yards of the barracks. This building is in the wrong place," He says he walks toward the door using his shield to break the lock. We enter the building and flick on the lights. The large shield emblem on the wall makes me lose my breath before I look around some more.

"This is SHIELD," Natasha says

"Maybe where it started," Steve says
