Cait:
Cait found out that she was pregnant with Sole’s baby long before Sole found out he was going to be a father again. Cait was worried that Sole would laugh in her face and send her away, taking the baby from her once it was born because he knew she’d not be able to look after it.
When Sole found out, Cait was hiding, not wanting to be found- she’d rather leave on her own terms.
Cait watched from her spot as Sole roped in all his friends and companions to try and find Cait. She was tempted to come out of hiding and just ‘turn herself in’, but she was too scared to do so. So she sat and watched, completely oblivious when one of the settlers stumbled across her hiding location and go and alert Sole to where she was hidden.
After getting over Cait’s initial worry about being a parent, the couple slowly got used to the fact that they were going to be parents together. Sole had proposed, but Cait had turned him down- she was insecure, thinking that the only reason that he wanted to marry her was the child growing in her womb. However, Sole had vowed that he would keep on asking until Cait trusted him enough to become his wife.
Cait carried to full term, giving birth on her due date. She was terrified, and gave birth without the help of any drugs- even Med-X, which had been offered to her in its weakest dose. The small baby boy that lay in her arms six and a half hours after her first contraction was the reason she refused the drugs. Sole stayed by her side the whole time, offering her his hand the whole time. They decided on the name Noah, and it was only when Noah was in Cait’s arms that she accepted Sole’s marriage proposal- she wanted the little family unit to all have the same name.
Cait didn’t realise how much hard work came with having a baby- the crying, the sick, the pooping. Sole had asked her if she would breast-feed the baby, and Cait was heartbroken when baby Noah didn’t latch onto her breast, thinking that she wasn’t a good enough mother.
They were the best parents together- they bounced off each other, both wanting to ensure that they were bringing up their son the best they could in the conditions they lived in. When baby Noah turned nine and a half months, they found out that he was going to be a big brother.
The second pregnancy turned Cait into a hormonal monster- worse than with Noah, and soon after having baby number two, another boy (much to the delight of Sole) named Nicholas, Cait begged the doctor to prevent her from being able to have any more children.
Noah was the best big brother, and Cait was the best mother. Her fear soon turned into love, and sometimes she wished that she could have more children- something that Sole reminded her she could since the prevention was reversible (however he didn’t mention anything after Cait threatened to slowly cut his balls off with a plastic knife).
Noah and Nicholas grew up to be handsome young men, both were educated with knowledge of pre-war world education and history, and who both provided Sole and Cait with many grandchildren.
Curie:
Curie and Sole had been trying to have children since the moment that they got married. They were uncertain as to whether or not they would end up pregnant- Curie hated the fact that she was a synth for that reason.
One day they got the news that they had been waiting for, that Curie was finally carrying Sole’s baby. But on the first day of her third month, everyone was heartbroken- Curie’s body had turned hostile towards the small life growing inside her, and she lost the baby.
After weeks and months of Curie locking herself away, she finally emerged and the couple agreed that they didn’t have to have a baby of their own to be complete as a couple, and they agreed to adopt on of the many children looking for a family and home within the Commonwealth.
