Jill ruffled her hair. She was uncomfortable, too. Poor little girl.
"Are you mad at me? Look, I'm really sorry about it. I always loved you, you were like a second sister to me. I wouldn't ever hurt you", she said and started chewing on her lips.
"It's okay, Jill", I mumbled and scratched my neck. "Is Gwen home?"
She sighed. "Yeah. She's in the cellar with Vito. Hell knows what these two are always doing down there", she said and rolled her eyes.
I chuckled. "I'll have a look, alright? And don't worry about that John thing", I said.
"Okay. Thank you Kaya. I just don't want you to worry. He interrupted it. He was probably thinking about you. And I think he didn't want it in the first place. Please don't think about it again now..it was really nothing", Jill said.
"Thanks, Jill", I said and smiled. "You've gotten so mature."
"Gwen always says I'm still acting like a three-year-old", she said and we both started laughing.
I gave Jill a hug and took the steps down the cellar. I heard chuckling from up there and as I opened the door, Gwen and Vito were already sitting on the carpet and one and a half empty bottles of wine next to them. Gwen jumped up and raised her arms. "Kaya, baby. Welcome back."
I happily approached her and let her hug me real tight. Then Vito stood up and opened his arms, too. "C'mon, babe. Give daddy a hug", he said and smirked.
"Iww, Vito. You're gross", Gwen said.
"I think he's cute", I said and pinched his cheek.
"See, I'm cute", he said and smiled widely before I hugged him, too.
I opened my bag and got out the two bottles of wine and the papers. "Let's look for a new home for Vito", I said and waved with the papers.
"Yeah and then call the renter drunk in the middle of the night. This will increase my chances", Vito said, put his thumbs up and chuckled.
"Hey you, we might as well just mark them now and you call them tomorrow."
"Lame", he said and smirked.
Ugh. If I wasn't with John, I'd fall so bad for him. He was handsomeness. And dressed in black today from head to toe. Best look for men. But John, right. And friendship was strong, so no way anything was gonna happen.
We were'nt really lucky in searching for flats. They either were at the other end of LA or much too expensive. Until I stumbled across an ad that looked familiar.
"Wait, this sounds just like River and Keanu's place", I mumbled. The address was right, too. "Oh my god, call that number, now!", I yelled and held the paper with the marked number in front of Vito's face.
"Jeez, slow down", Vito said and chuckled.
"Gwen, get the fucking phone", I yelled again.
"Good lord, Kaya. You're being scary", she said but slowly got up and went upstairs.
Returning, she threw the phone towards Vito who picked it up and started dialing.
"Put 'em on loudspeaker", I said and he did.
It was free line. We waited for half a minute and Vito was just gonna hang up when River took the phone and said hi.
"Um, hi. I just stumbled across your ad in the LA times", Vito said and I gave him a thumbs up.
"Ohh.. hey. You grabbed an old issue, buddy. We already had a couple of guys checking out the room and we're gonna call 'em tomorrow. Sorry, man", River said and sighed.
"Alright, alright. It can't be helped, right?", Vito said and he looked so, so disappointed.
I jumped up and took the phone out of his hands. "River!", I yelled.
"Uh..", he said and I started chuckling. "Um.. Peanut, is that you?"
"Yeah, it's me", I said. "Are you sure it can't be helped?"
"Sneaky you. What are you guys doing right now?", he asked.
"Well.. we're sitting in my friend Gwen's cellar, drinking wine and looking for a flat for Vito."
"Why don't you guys come over right now? Me and Keanu are having some friends over and I'd be pumped to see you. Plus, maybe when we get along with your friend.. maybe he can move in", River said and I squeaked from joy.
"That's exactly what we're gonna do", I said and hung up.
"Oh my god, isn't this exciting?", I asked Vito and Gwen and they looked at each other and laughed.
I ordered a taxi and we drove straight to River's. I just couldn't believe that two of my best friends had a room for another one of my best friends. It was gonna be the super flat share. I'd always go and hang with them. No need to go check on a billion of different friends when they all live together. Gwen could always come. I could bring Lara because she and Keanu were a thing.
Oh wait... What was the deal with Lara and Keanu? I was just gonna tell the driver to take me back home when he parked the car in front of their apartment complex. How was I supposed to face Keanu after I witnessed Lara making out with Chad and totally cheating on him? Did she tell him? I went from psyched up to freaked out.
