"Braylyn! Can you turn to the news sweetie? I want to hear more about this flu."

"Mom, you work for the CDC. Aren't you familiar with it enough?" I chuckle

"Yes, but I want to see if it has spread. We are currently looking for our Patient Zero. Then once we locate them, we can focus on a cure."

"I saw on twitter that the flu was killing people and bringing them back to life." I say

"Braylyn, what did I tell you about the internet?"

"The internet is full of uneducated and overly opinionated, emotional civilians who think they know it all." I repeat her line about the internet

"Exac-"

"Breaking news! We have just received two new video footages as an update on this new flu strain. What you are about to see is believed to be very graphic."

A video popped up on the screen, looking as if someone was recording off their phone. With Chicago, Illinois in the left hand corner of it.

"Yo! What the *beep* is going on?! This dude out here eating people, on da real!"

The man recording zoomed in on a man who was eating someone's insides. His eyes were red and his skin seemed to be burned all over.

Another video from Columbia, South Carolina this time popped up.

People were screaming and running while snarls were heard faintly in the background.

"PLEASE SEND US HELP! THE SICK IS EATING US!" The woman yells and the video goes black

"Both states have issued states of emergencies. While no comment from the president, other states are now going through the quarantine process at the hospitals. The CDC has not confirmed the way of contagion but has said to steer clear of anyone who seems as if they are sick." The news reporter states

"Shit." Mom jumps up and grabs her phone

She frantically types away and puts the phone to her ear.

"Dr.Mendei, did you see it too? We have to get a lab sample...yes, right away...correct...Have Captain know it all get his men in there for us...Okay...no...it's not time yet...it's still too early right now...I'm on my way." With a click she was off the phone

"Sweetie, I will be back tomorrow. As you saw this is really important." My mom grabs her briefcase and keys

"Don't forget to take your medicine and don't open the door for anyone, I love you Braylyn." She smiles

"Wait" I say quickly, getting up.

I give her a big hug

"Go save the world mom." I smile and she kisses my forehead.

Turning to leave, I lock the door behind her.

I quickly grab my phone and see that I have 2 text messages from him. My heart flutters at just the mere thought of him.
