Decided to post 11&12 since I finished both 😊

Both of these chapters explain Aiden and why he is the way he is...

Marley screamed so loud it shook the walls of the house, watching the snake slowly slither from the corner while booming footsteps echoed from outside the closed door.

With her heart pounding in her ears, she watched the snake move slowly along the hardwood, hazel eyes wide and body trembling, forgetting her pride right now, "Aiden! Aiden help! Aiden!" She shrieked as it moved closer to her side of the room.

Marley scrambled out of the bed when the door slammed open, eyes locked on the snake as Aiden stormed up to her and yanked her by the wrist into his hold, "What is it?! Talk to me." he rushed out, scanning around the room as he spoke.

She scrambled behind him, "Snake!" She shrieked, clutching onto his black shirt and hiding behind his back, daring to peek around his bicep with tentative eyes.

"Shit," he growled, his arm circling around her back to hold her closer behind his body.

"So-so safe now, huh?!" She jumped when it began to move in closer, "oh my gods, Aiden. Back up. Let's go. Let's drive far away from here."

"Relax," he soothed, but still held her behind him tightly, "I think it's just a gardener snake, which is harmless. I'll bring it outside-"

"Like hell you're getting close to that thing. We're lea-ahh!" She shouted as it changed course right for them, it's red tongue shooting out for a few seconds before it was slipping back in its mouth.

"Spitfire. Calm down and leave the room, close the door behind you. I'll take it outside."

"No. Way. You're not leaving me. I'm not leaving you. Who knows what freaking else is out there?!"

"It's a harmless snake, Marley. But I appreciate the concern considering I expected you to ask the snake to eat me for dinner."

"Still debating," she shot back, but her voice was shaky and her body was still trembling.

"You can either stay in here with me and the snake or wait outside," Aiden stated calmly while the snake momentarily slithered in on itself instead of moving closer, "I'd prefer you wait outside. There's nothing to be afraid of. Promise."

When Marley realized how clingy she was being - when she was supposed to be mad at him - she released Aiden's shirt and shifted away from where she was attached to his back like a spider monkey. But still, the concern for him was there and that was never going away.

"Please don't die," she pleaded, beginning to shift away from his warmth and make her way cautiously for the door while he kept his eyes locked on the demon creature, "I don't want to be stuck here alone."

"It's a little snake, not a bear," he spoke evenly, calmly, "just wait in the living room downstairs and you don't even have to see it again."

Marley paused in consideration, deciding that his plan was probably the best one, "Promise me you'll kill it if you have to."

"If I have to, I will. Wait in the living room for me, Marley. Go."

She took one last lingering glance at Aiden before she was dashing out of there and slamming the door quickly, taking the creaky steps downstairs two at a time with her heart in her throat. She felt like it was chasing her, but knew Aiden wouldn't let that happen regardless.
