Zach was using the Jurassic Park sign and the old dinosaur bone as a torch, orange flames lighting up the building a bit more. Alison's eyes had adjusted to the dark, so she could see much clearer now and wasn't worried about tripping over anything. Zach led the way, heading down a hallway that was in the large building. He noticed a picture of what looked like a Raptor on the brick wall, running his fingertips across it's head.
"That's your new buddy, Zach?" Alison joked, watching the boy who seemed so interested in the dinosaur.
"Yeah." Zach replied, chuckling softly. Both the Mitchell brothers were fascinated by the Raptor, Gray stopping to admire the picture.
"Pretty cool, huh?" Alison asked, thinking about how excited the boys would be if they got the chance to meet Owen Grady's Velociraptors.
"Guys!" Zach exclaimed, his voice more like a whisper-yell. Alison and Gray both looked over to where he was standing, seeing a room at the end of the dimly lit hallway. Along with long vines that had been growing for years, there was shelves full of objects and old gas cans littered throughout the room. Gray stopped to look at some of the things on the shelves, nearly everything having a thick layer of dust covering it.
Zach and Alison slowly walked further into the room, seeing two old jeeps parked side by side.
"1992 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. Sand beige." Gray stated as he came walking over.
"These are the cars they used in the old park." Alison added on, glancing from Gray to Zach.
A mischievous smile started to form on the older boy's lips as he looked over at Gray. "You remember when we fixed up Grandpa's old Malibu, right?" He asked, Gray nodding in response.
"The likelihood that you'll be able to fix one of these is slim. They've been here for too long." Alison didn't want to waste any time trying to fix up an old car, she just wanted to get back to the park.
"Are you underestimating us, Alison?" Zach asked with a smirk, turning his body so he was fully facing the girl. The attitude radiating off of Zach made butterflies come alive in her stomach, violently thrashing around in excitement and anxiety.
"Not at all. You go right ahead and try to fix one of these." Alison wanted to see the boys try, just so she could say she told them so when they couldn't get one running.
Gray let out a small laugh as Zach handed him the makeshift torch, and went to pop the hood up.
Alison stood back and watched the boys, her arms crossed across her chest. She helped out when the opportunity arised, doing things like handing Gray tools and equipment, and holding their makeshift torch over the engine so Zach could see what he was doing. At one point, Alison gave Zach the torch and helped him put a small car part in it's place. She had smaller hands than him, and knew where the part needed to go.
Alison wasn't oblivious on cars, her father used to fix them all the time. She'd stand back and watch him, absorbing as much information as her young brain could hold. The garage type room had fallen quiet as the trio focused on fixing up the Jeep. Alison was leaning against the passenger door, waiting for Zach to give her the cue to hop in. She watched him as he worked on the car, his muscles flexing and his maroon shirt covered in grease and dried mud. The younger Mitchell brother also stood off to the side, trusting that Zach knew what he was doing.
A high pitched roar cut through the air, catching everyone's attention. It sounded too far away to be the Indominus, or any other dinosaur for that matter. Even if it was the Indominus, the trio would be able to hear much more than her roar. Her footsteps were enough to cause an earthquake.
"We're safe here, right?" Gray asked, looking back and forth between the two teenagers. A dark shadow was casted across his nervous facial expression.
"Yeah, we're fine. Zach's almost done anyways, right?" Alison reassured the boy, pushing her weight off of the Jeep to look straight at Zach.
"Almost done." He replied, walking away from the Jeep and grabbing something off a nearby shelf. "Here, go take this. You're stronger than me." Zach handed Gray the large car part, before getting into the driver's seat of the Jeep. Alison jumped in after him as Zach rummaged around for the key.
"Check the sun shielder." Alison pointed up to the roof as Zach pulled the compartment down, the keys to the Jeep falling out on his lap. "You're welcome." Alison mumbled, earning a short laugh from the boy beside her.
"Thanks." He replied, glancing over at her.
"Alright, turn it over!" Gray yelled once he was done under the hood. Zach stuck the key into the Jeep's ignition, and Alison's eyes went wide as the old vehicle roared to life.
"It works!" Zach exclaimed, a large smile on his face as he looked over at Alison. She couldn't help but smile back, surprised that the boys had managed to get the car started. Gray slammed the hood of the Jeep down and ran to get into the backseat.
"I thought you failed your driver's test." The younger boy said as he leaned forwards, gripping the back of Zach's seat.
"Only the driving part." Zach smirked at his brother in the rearview mirror before putting the jeep in drive.
