That Fateful Finger

Everything crumbles away,
His career, his life,
All falling into the gray.
Even his wife.

The second that woman pointed her finger,
He was condemned and lost.
Even the accusation put him through the wringer.
His heart covered with frost.

His faith in humanity gone.
He is white and straight.
He realizes he's just a pawn.
Some take advantage of their heritage and shut the gate.
There's no dawn.
It's all hate.
He stifles a yawn.
It's far too late.

He looks back.

His life is gone.

The carnage started with that woman's fateful finger.

Honesty is the best policy.

Don't lie.

If there's no evidence, you might as well be lying.

Always be with someone you trust.

Prevent problems before they happen.

Originally, I had a longer author's note here. It was poorly written and was being poorly received. That was a failure on my part. I should've reminded myself that the reader's interpretation is just that, theirs.

Make someone's day.
