In twenty minutes, it's the first of January 2019. New year, new me they say but how could I be me if I haven't the girl that I wish for. While I am here partying with friends, she's at her place probably watching some romantic movie. My friends kept giving me drinks, making sure that I would be drunk at the end of this long day.

The fresh air of Toronto made me sober. I looked over the many buildings just to see the CN Tower. A buzz made me back to reality. It was her. She texted me, only me. "I just wanna say a happy new year because I will probably fall asleep." I have met many girls but she is different. Instead of partying every weekend with her friends, you see her daily at a bookstore all alone with her favourite coffee by her side.

That's how I noticed her, that one day when I wanted to buy a book I met her. She helped me find one, a good one. She didn't worked there but I know that at that moment there was something between us. Weeks later I met her again, in my favourite coffee shop reading another book. I couldn't help myself, I had to speak to her. So I took all of the courage that I had and walked over to her. We talked for a long time, a really long time and since then we saw each other every week in secret. She knew what she had to carry if she wanted to see me again and I knew what I had to do.

Every week we did other things, like visiting museums or just staying at my place learning her how to play a certain song on my guitar. We always had fun, we laughed together and sometimes cried together.

And that was the moment I realized what I had to do. Without telling my friends where I was heading, I ran outside and stopped a car. 'Bring me to Mooney's, please,' five minutes later I stood in front of her door. One thing I admired about her was that she lived above the best bookstore in Toronto, that was always her dream to have a bookstore or work in one.

I took the stairs up and just stood there in front of her door trying to convince myself to knock.
Ofcourse, I had to. I knocked on her door and waited for her. She opened the door, 'hey,' she mumbled very tiredly. Instead of saying something back, I just stood there admiring her beauty. Sweatpants, one of my hoodies and her glasses. 'Shawn?' I finally looked at her in the eyes, and took my shot. I grabbed her by the face and kissed those irresistible, pump gorgeous lips. 'Oh you taste like alcohol, wait you're drunk?,'

she whispered against my lips. I shook my head and pulled her in my arms. 'I might be, but I still can say that I fucking love you,' she smiled and pulled me into her little but still cozy apartment. 'Uhm take a seat I will get you some water,' she chuckled. In no time she was back and I took her back in my arms. 'Why me, Shawn?' I ignored her question and quickly looked at the time. 'It is almost New Year, you know. Would you like to be my kiss?'

She pulled closer to her and waited until it was time. 'Three, two, one, happy new year,' we pressed our lips together and kissed. 'I love you too,' she hid her face in the crook of my neck and slowly left kisses. 'Mmmmh,' I took her face in ly hands and just kissed her again.

And again and again until we both laid down on her bed, having the best night of our lives. And I get to wake up next to my gorgeous, smart, kind, delicious girlfriend. That's what I call lucky, I'm lucky. Lucky to have her finally by my side.
