Natasha's pov
The car was quiet on the ride home. Steve's face was still wet from all his tears, I had my hand on his leg gently rubbing circles to calm him down.
When we got back to Steves house he slid off his shoes and messily hung his jacket up. I watched him fall onto the couch.
I joined him a second later. He ran a hand over his face, wiping the tears away."I'm glad you're here Nat"
"Me too"
The sudden loud ringing of my phone made us both jump.
It was an unknown number. Cautiously I answered."Hello?"
"Hi are you miss Romanoff"
Yes, speaking?
"This is the police department. We heard that your having trouble with your father?"
"What?"
"We got an anonymous report that your father has been hurting you."
"I-who..."
"Police are on route to arrest him."
I hung up the phone.( police probably don't call you like this but for the sake of the story please let it be 😅 )
"Nat? What happened"
Steve asked noticing my blank expression."The police are about to arrest my dad."
"Isn't that a good thing?"
My face twisted in anger"No! He's all I have left."
I stumbled to leave the house as fast as possible."I'm sorry Steve."
I didn't want to leave him after today but I couldn't let my dad get arrested."It's ok. Go."
His voice was quiet.
I gave him a quick nod and rushed out of the house. I ran the 5 blocks back to my house. My legs burned when I ran up the steps. The door was open
I quietly pushed it in. But I knew it was too late. The house was a mess, a lamp was knocked over and a drawer was pulled out, the contents spilled on the floor.
I sunk down to my knees.
Who would do this.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. Not a moment sooner I was running to the police department.
I dodged the crowds and apologized when needed. Finally the PD was in my line of sight. When I was about to walk through the door I stopped and doubled over putting my hands on my knees. Sweat made my hair stick to my face.
When I could breath again I walked in and made my way to the front desk."How can I help you?"
"Is Ivan Romanoff here?"
"Are you Natasha?"
I didn't answer."Agent Daniels please come to the front desk."
The receptionists voice said over the speakers. A moment later who I assumed to be officer Daniels turned the corner."Miss Romanoff if you would come with me."
I followed behind him through the police department."Are you taking me to my dad?"
I asked hopefully"Not yet"
He opened the door to a room."Take a seat."
I sat down in an uncomfortable metal chair. Daniels closed the door and took a seat in one of the two chairs on the opposite side of the table.
The extra seat was soon filled by a man."Hello Miss Romanoff my name is Phil Coulson"
"Why am I here"
I asked a little rudely"I think you already know the answer to that"
"I want to see him"
"And you will. But right now I'm trying to asses the situation."
Phil said honestly.
I huffed in response."Miss- "
"It's just Natasha"
I interrupted."Natasha. I want you tell me what the relationship is between you and your father"
"It's fine"
I shrugged warily looking at the officer. I could sense Coulson saw me do that."I'm here to help you. Please try and be honest with me"
I could see the genuine kindness in his eyes. He wanted to help me. Well don't all therapists? I looked away from him."We're fine"
I said againHe sighed
"What is that?"
He asked pointing to my exposed wrist.
I pulled down my sleeve quickly."It's nothing just hit my wrist against a door frame"
"Do door frames leave hand prints?"
"What?"
"I'm trying to help but if you don't try too then I can't do my job."
I crossed my arms and looked down at the table. I could see a blurry reflection of myself on the metal. I could see the officer looking at me. I could feel myself start to sweat.
I looked up when I heard a clink on the metal. Coulson had placed the clipboard down on the table."Do you think you could let me talk with her alone?"
Coulson asked the officer."Sir I'm here in case things out of hand"
"Do things look that way?"
He said gesturing to me."I'm not allowed to leave you alone with her"
Coulson then whispered something to him.
Hesitantly Daniels left but stood just outside the door.
Coulson smiled at me."We're alone now."
He said obviously trying to get a reaction out of me."I see that"
I had to admit a huge weight was taken off my chest when Daniels left."I know you don't want to talk to me. Most kids your age don't. They see it as a sign of weakness that they need help. I need you to know that it's not, I'm not here to judge you Natasha."
I furrowed my eye brows."So, What is the relationship like between you and your father?"
Wow! Man are things getting spicy.
Natasha's dad might go to jail! Finally...I mean oh no?
Anyway thanks to everyone who has been reading this story it means a lot to me.10starlight
