~ Conan's sniffing ~

Director: So Conan-kun, this is the part when you have to pretend you smelt this perfume before.

Conan: Like a dog? Like the doggies in the detective films? Am I going to need a doggie costume?

Shinichi, who brought Conan to the site today resisted the urge to slap his own forehead. The Boy has been acting as him for the past few episodes already and he had not caught the hint? No, Co-chan, you don't need to dress in a dog onesie and act as one to sniff.

Though the idea is kinda cute.

Director: No no, Conan-kun. All you have to do is to sniff the ladies in a clockwise direction. Starting from Hatano-san, then the staff ladies, then Ran-chan, then the wife. All right? Don't forget to pause a bit when you smell Hatano-san, okay?

Conan beamed at him and nodded his head.

"AND ACTION!"

Conan lifted his head and breathed in the scent that the actor was forced to wear on his trousers. Then he jumped to the staff and then Ran, who he paused at for Ran's line. Ahh, his beautiful angel named Ran. She had this really good expression that showed slight mortification at Conan's curious behaviour.

He made his nervous laugh and backed away towards the wife. "Haha... It's nothing it's nothing–" Before his face turned all serious at the same smell he got from the male actor.

"AND CUT!"

The performance was not to par, it did not feel as genuine. Something was lacking in the last take and Shinichi knew what was exactly it. He walked over to Conan, who had his head down in contemplation after what the director had told him. The boy looked up at him as soon as he saw his big brother's feet.

"Nii-chan, what did I do wrong?"

Putting up a false thoughtful look, Shinichi replied. "Maybe you wanna make it more obvious that you're sniffing them. Like a doggie, like this." He proceeds to sniff, exaggerating the move by moving his nose as well. Conan's eyes lit up, understanding what his big brother had suggested.

In the next few takes, Conan exaggerated his sniffs, made it audible and smelted everyone obnoxiously.

And Shinichi had everything on tape and on the phone. Wait till Mom and Kai see this!

~ How Sleeping Kogorou works ~

So in the concluding section, it was decided by the team that Ran was suppose to knock the assailant aside so that Mouri Kogorou would not be killed. However, there were separate instructions for the actor of Suwa and Ran.

TO Suwa's actor: Please swing down the sword all the way till the breadth of Mouri's hair

TO Ran: Do not run in and knock Suwa. Scream in fear instead.

Luckily, there would be no harm to Mouri Kogorou himself because whenever he gets tranquilised, the scene would be cut and a mannequin dressed and sculpted like him would be brought in. They would position the mannequin to how he fell and continue taking from there.

Additionally, he was really thankful for the switch because of the following stunt.

"AND ACTION!"

Suwa brandished the katana from its scabbard and dived for the mannequin. "That's right, like THIS!" He charged, frightening Conan who was seated behind the mannequin, not knowing what had changed in the script. The boy was prepared to escape but fear anchored in so deep, he could not move.

Suwa lifted the sword and swung downwards, aiming for Mouri Kogorou's head. Ran screamed as instructed, but louder and more fearful as Conan had exposed himself from behind.

All the actors were shouting in fear at the action, having no knowledge that this fear was intentional to get the best reaction out of all of them. The real Mouri Kogorou nearly shouted but kept his professionalism, having acted for years before this series. This would also serve as a good acting lesson for his daughter anyway. Shinichi, on the other hand, had some of the staffs pressing their palms against his mouth to prevent him from screaming murder.

The blade stopped right above the mannequin's head, causing a few strands of synthetic hair to fall out. Suwa paused and sheathed his katana back into the scabbard. "And the rest is as you have said. But to even not quiver under my blade, you truly are remarkable, Great Detective Mouri Kogorou."

The older Kudo was released and maintained his cool until the director ended that scene. That was when the chaos began.

The adults were shouting about how horrifying the act was, why they were not informed of the change and the dangers behind the act as they were using a legitimate sword for this scene. Conan ran towards him and started to bawl out of fear as Shinichi tried to calm the boy down with his soothing pats.

"ICHI-NII! IT WAS SO SCARY! WAAAA I DON'T WANNA DO THIS ANYMORE! ICHI-NII, I WANT TO GO HOME!" Conan cried. Shinichi chuckled and lifted the boy up like an infant. He patted repeatedly until his little brother calmed down, not realising that everyone has stopped to watch him console the child actor. It was understanding that Conan reacted that way.

He is still a seven-year-old after all.

Ran approached us carefully and tapped on the little boy's shoulder. With a gentle smile that could calm the seas (In Shinichi's mind) she asked.

"Just a bit more, Co-chan. And we can go home to eat your favourite chocolate chip cookies. Okay?"

Being a good kid, Conan quickly wiped his tears and nodded. Quickly, the make-up artists fixed his appearance and they quickly shot the last few scenes.
