I watched the knife come to me but soon fall to the floor because of a laser. I stared at it for a fourth of a second then looked at Mitch. Mitch’s black side spread throughout his body but soon all went to his eyes and they turned pitch black but then were normal. Then, you could see a black, glow from his heart. He body was limp, no sign of life or energy. My best friend died for me, and I was about to die for him.

Why did this have to happen! I let all my anger rise. He smiled and dropped Mitch like a rag doll. “Now that one of my sons have been taken care of…” He stepped toward Jason but we protected him. “Funny how things work, eh?” He asked.

He was close enough to hit but not yet. “One by one, you’ll be gone. If not by me, then by my minions. All the people you were inspired by were made of lies. I am real. I hope you understand that I am who I am and you can never change who I am.” Everyone was petrified but he came closer to Jason.

“How do want yours to happen? I gave Mitchell a choice but he wanted the hard way.” He said. He was about to make contact with Jason when I attacked. I drew my sword and sliced him in the back and then through the heart. I pulled back. He laughed as he fell, “Sure you have gotten me now but I never die. Even if I do, I will still be alive. A figment of imagination. Beware, I shall return.” With that he evaporated even though he was still a solid.

I dropped everything and ran to Mitch’s side. His eyes were clouded and his pupils were small. I checked for a pulse, disparate. I didn’t find one. “Mitch don’t leave me!” I cried. First, I lose his trust now him. I cried more in his chest. The guys were behind me, shocked and sad.

Jason kneeled beside me and a few tears rolled down his cheeks. “Jerome, I think I can help.” He pulled out a glowing white orb. He put it in my hand and said, “Mitch gave this to me from before. He said I’d know when to use it. I think you know when and how to use it.” I nodded. “He took this from his heart and said it was important.”

I stared at the orb. It was pure, white, and glowing. When the darkness glowed in his heart, it was pure evil. I took the orb in both my hands and put it over his heart. I closed my eyes and thought of positive things.

“Please let this work.” I said mentally. I opened my eyes and the orb was gone. There was a little white flash of white explode from his chest but nothing else. “I’m sorry.” Adam said patting my shoulder. We all stayed there, crying softly. I tried everything, but nothing.

Soon I saw Mitch’s skin change. Just like before, his body was split in half, one black the other white. I smiled, he was alive. I put my head to his chest and heard soft beating and breathing. “He’s alive!”

We all cheered as time started to begin. I looked around, “Come on, we should get going to the house.” I picked Mitch up by behind of his knees and shoulders and we ran to the house.
