*WARNING*
If you are easily triggered then please skip the flashback. It does not explain anything but I do not wish for anyone to get upset while reading this.

(p.s.  This isn't exactly what the file says but I figured it would be better for you guys to kind of see what his story was in a way. Not everything is mentioned, but there is a type of outline for you to go by)

Niall's Past

Niall lived with his birth parents for 5 years, getting abused and neglected by both of them during this time. Right before he turned 5 his mother died, leaving his father to take care of him (or at least keep him alive). This lasted for a few months before his father started leaving him at home alone for a couple of days at a time. This went on for weeks before A neighbor heard crying and found no car in the drive way. After reporting this to the police they came to the residence and found niall locked in a closet that also held a wide variety of dangerous chemicals.

Under further inspection, they noticed that the child had urine soaked pants along with a terrible rash and he had multiple lacerations on his arms and a couple on his face. Along with these injuries, they also found that there were small chemical burns on his bony arms and there were bruises and marks from what seemed to be from a belt.

Because the environment at his home was so bad, he developed a list of problems including breathing problems that could lead to asthma if not carefully monitored.  It took weeks to get the small five year old in a stable enough condition to go to a foster home, mainly due to his mental health.

At the time the staff in the hospital were able to build a strong enough bond for the young child to start speaking, almost enough to be considered normal behavior for his age. They also got the child to get some meat on his bones, but not nearly enough to be considered healthy.

Observed Outcome: fear of small spaces, fear of yelling/screaming, fear of  abandonment.

The first home that Niall was sent to only lasted a couple of weeks due to child molestation charges against the foster parents. Previous children that were in their care came forward about this, but it was never reported whether Niall was molested or not. Either it did not happen or the procedures for these types of situations were not followed through to the needed evaluation steps.

Observed Outcome: fear of bathrooms, fear of the dark.

The second family lasted a little longer, but again, did not last due to the family selling drugs which ended with the cops getting involved in a "sale gone bad" deal. In this situation, due to the extreme danger that the child was in, he was immediately taken to another home.

Observed Outcome: fear of guns, fear of loud noises, fear of knives.

Niall was in his newest home for a total of six weeks before he was hospitalized due to multiple problems. He was extremely dehydrated, they found traces of multiple street drugs in his system (along with the other children in the home), and he had a stage 3 concussion.

During an home visit, it was found that there was not food in the home except for moldy bread and expired milk. And there were pills and alcohol bottles littering every room. One child from the home (8 yrs old) was found with alcohol poisoning. Another child (12 yrs old) was found to be extremely high due to some drugs that were near by. Niall (6 yrs old) was found unconscious in an upstairs bathroom while the foster parent was passed out drunk in the kitchen.

Observed Outcome: fear of starvation, fear of taking medicine, nonverbal

After this placement, it was extremely hard and near impossible to get the child to speak more than one word at a time, let alone speak at all. At this point Niall is 6 and he is placed in another home. This home lasted for a while, but it doesn't mean it was a good placement. He eventually gets removed after the women that was over his care had a male over and things took a bad turn. Long story short, Niall had to suffer with a broken arm for a total of three days before the social worker was able to make another home visit. When the social worker showed up, Niall was found hiding in the corner of a room and was immediately removed from the home when the damage to the small child was revealed.

At 6 years old, Niall was taken from his fourth placement in a little over a year. Being 6 years old, Niall didn't know much of what was going on, but he figured with all the neglect and placements that he was just unable to be loved, just like what mommy number 3 told him.

Observed Outcome: fear of people, fear of being left, fear of being used, fear of shots.

Perrie

After we read the file, Zayn and I just sat in silence in order to take everything in. This young boy has been through way more that I would have thought, yet he still has a way of trusting us. Yes, it is extremely hard for him to actually trust us and some of what he agrees to may just be instinct so he doesn't get hurt, but I still see that he wants to see the best in people.

I can't even believe the half of what he went through is real. I was expecting something bad, but this sweet little boy didn't even have a chance to prove himself before he was thrown into the world of abuse and neglect. Tomorrow he has an appointment with a pediatrician that Zayn set up so we can get him his flu shot and maybe some vitamins for him. I don't really know what all he needs, but I want him to be given the chance that he deserves.

Morning

I wake up to someone shaking my shoulder so I try to shake them off but no use.

"Babe, wake up. I made breakfast and Niall's appointment starts in about two hours so we need to get moving and wake the kids." I hear Zayn say as he leaves a kiss on my shoulder.

"Okay, I'm up." I say without opening my eyes. If I open my eyes then it means I'm really awake, which I don't want.

"Pez, you you need to actually get up, I won't leave until you do." I hear him say as I crack my eyes open.

Okay, okay. I'm up, are you happy?" I ask as I throw my feet over the edge of the bed.

"Very." He laughs before pecking my lips and leaving the room. I roll my eyes but can't hide the smile that appears on my face.

Time to start my day.
