i am perplexed
for what you cannot seem
to take
to heart
i tell you
i do not lie to you
that is not to say you cannot lie to me
i understand and respect
that there is fear and apprehension
i do not want you to feel guilty
not in any sense
it would be wrong of me to demand your thoughts
only to become upset with what i have found
though, in truth, you cannot upset me
i know this as a fact
not as a joke on you
you hold yourself to the highest standards
yet at the lowest expectations
this is an observation of my fear for what is to come
