When dealing with days that your mental health is at a low, a person tends to make decisions based off of how they're feeling or what their mind is telling them to do. This is when it's most important to stop, and talk it out before taking action. It's difficult, but it's important.
For me, the easiest way to rationalize my decisions is to start asking myself questions and answering them on paper.
These questions generally go like this, and only take about 5-7 minutes:
1. What is it I feel the urge to do? What am I feeling the urge to not do?
2. Why do I want to do it? Why don't I want to do that other thing?
3. Are my thoughts rational? Why/why not?
4. Is this thought just in the moment, or will I regret it later? why/why not?
5. Will this thing I want to do potentially harm me and/or other people? Will this thing I don't want to do potentially harm me and/or other people if I don't do it?
6. What is the most reasonable thing I should be doing? -once answering that question, do that thing.
