Why hadn't I ever noticed her before? That girl that I've shared classes with for years? I've known her face since the second grade, yet I never actually knew her. She was always so quiet, as if she were longing for something more, something fulfilling. She was a like bird who was unable to sing. Always timid, always reserved.

I didn't even notice when her family had moved next door to me. That is until one night, when the sun had set long ago and the stars were shining high above. I was sneaking out from my home, only to see her pull into her driveway at the neighboring house. Her parents stepped out and went inside, seemingly disappointed and pitiful expressions on their faces. She was clutching a black case by her side which I took note of, and when I glanced at her face the moonlight had illuminated a gentle flow of tears streaming down her saddened features. I dwindled for a bit about what may have happened, but ultimately I decided to ignore it, like I always did. I headed out without giving her a second thought.

This is going to be a short story probably, please enjoy :)
