Chapter Seven:

(3rd Perspecive)

About an hour or two had passed since Seraphina had gone out to confront John. 'That girl, I she must have a death wish or something!' Thought Isen, still propped up in the infirmary bed. 'Seeking out John when he's in his kill-everything-I-see mode!'

He had uncovered himself from his sheets though since the threat was gone. Well, aside from the doctor, who for some reason wouldn't take his damn eyes off his phone with this creepy-ass smile glued to his face. Isen decided not to ask since he didn't want to be yelled at.

Arlo and Elaine had already left the room as well, since it was getting late and school was just about over. Knowing that John was also gone from the room, the strangely excited Remi brought Blyke back to the room.

The two males looked at the panting girl expectantly, wondering what the hell she was so thrilled about.

"Well?" Blyke inquires with a frown. "What did you drag me back here for?"

Remi's grin stretches as she speaks. "I have a brilliant plan!"

Isen and Blyke exchanged nervous glances. They knew damn well where this was going...

"Oh yeah?" Isen dubiously asked the girl. "And what would that be?"

"Let's go back to that town!" The bold girl suggests without a trace of fear in her voice.

"NO WAY!" Isen snaps completely unwillingly, vigorously shaking his head. "You seriously want to go back there after nearly getting yourself, and us for that matter, killed? Are you crazy?!"

With a grunt, Blyke adds, "Yeah, we barely managed to escape last time." His eyes soften as gazes at her. "I know how much this means to you, but you might really might get killed next time!" Warns the reluctant red-head in concern. "We watched Alana die. This isn't a fucking game."

Remi's grin falters at the reminder. "Well, that is true..." She agrees in hesitation. Her smile resurfaces, though. "But... if we bring John-"

"HELL NO!" Blyke quickly refuses. "You're fucking insane! That dude is unstable and crazy. Who knows when he'll turn on us and become an enemy rather than an ally."

She pauses for a moment before responding. "I don't think he'll do that."

The two stare at her in confusion at her confidence. "How can you be so sure?"

She sighs. "Well, just think back to the time when he first appeared at school. He genuinely seemed like he was nice guy!" Remi optimistically tells the two.

Blyke snorts, not the least bit swayed. "Tch, that guy called you a 'bitch' when you tried to help him."

"Yeah I was kind of annoyed by that too," Remi starts as she crosses her arms and grips her chin as she spoke. "But I thought about it for a while. He had been thrashed around and treated like he was garbage during his time here! Of course he would be on edge and so untrusting of us. Wouldn't you be too?" She questions the two, staring at them with an expression of empathy. "Besides, he apologized right after. Did you forget?"

Blyke and Isen pause, actually finding themselves feeling guilty of the way they treated him. "You know, you may be right..." Says Isen as he takes in the information. "I actually already knew about John for a while now.

"You did?!" Both Remi and Blyke say in unison.

He laughs nervously. "Yeah, sorry I didn't tell you guys. I was afraid he'd go after me." He apologies as he scratches the back of his neck feeling a little guilty. "Anyway, at his previous school he was King.

Blyke and Remi's jaw drop at the revelation.

"He's that strong?" Comments Blyke with wide eyes.

"Yeah that was my reaction too. Though, as strong as he was, he was a complete tyrant and a terrible King. Everyone hated him, and he got himself expelled after beating up his entire class."

The red-head turns to Remi, his doubt returning to him. "Do you still think he's a 'nice' guy?"

Remi begins to appear like she is starting to doubt him too until Isen waves his hands in front of him in defense.

"Wait, wait a sec guys! Let me finish!" They turns back to the frantic boy. "His records don't show what happened the year after that. When he transferred to Wellston, he become a completely different person. Something in that year gap changed him, and it seems he's been trying to turn over a new leaf and become a better person." Isen explains. "But being bullied to such an extent seems to have reverted him to his old ways."

"So, what you're saying is that as long as we show him we can be trusted, he may revert back to his friendly persona and start treating us nicely again?" Remi asks with an optimistic smile.

"Precisely!" Nods Isen with a smile. "But, it may be difficult to persuade him to come with us..."

Yet another snort is heard. "No shit, the guy wouldn't let so much as glance at him no matter how friendly I tried to be." Blyke responds grumpily.

He turns back to Remi in reluctance. "Still, even if we were to get him to come with us, is it really the brightest idea to go back to that dangerous place?"

Remi's eyes spark with determination and hope. "So many innocent people are dying because of Ember!" She says, remembering the poor girl who was killed by Volcan right before her eyes. "With our power, we might be able to put a stop to them!" Although she didn't say it, the others knew she also wanted to seek out that mysterious lady who hurt them, believing she was the one responsible for killing her brother to take her revenge and that she was apart of EMBER. "We've gotten so far... we just can't back out now!"

A sigh leaves both Isen and Blyke's lips. Maybe she was right. With John's insane strength combined with theirs, they just may be able to defeat Volcan and get one step closer to discovering just where EMBER's base of operations is and what their plan is exactly.

They couldn't just leave Remi to go by herself, or alone with John.  Having no choice, the two boys sighed. "I guess there's no escaping this one..."
