Sighing, I ignore both of them and try to navigate around my mess of an apartment. Screw this, I'm just going to go to Starbucks.

As I sit down with my drink, I notice a cute guy staring at me. I smile at him and he pulls his eyes away, blushing. Cute.

Focus Garrett, focus. Ok, what do I actually need for tonight? Hmmm. Blazers, menus, and food for them. It's a known fact that me and Shane can't cook so what can I make for them? Who even is them? Shane hasn't told me anything about tonight. Probably to spare me the pain.

I finally reply.

Me: Well what's happening tonight?

Shane🐷: u know that girl. Megan, I think she's called?

Me: Megan Batoon?

Shane🐷: That's her. Anyways I heard Andrew talking about her a couple of weeks back. So I asked her to come round.

Me: you don't think that sounds creepy?

I know exactly who he was talking about. Andrew has told me about her passively, I guess you could say.

Shane🐷: creepy is my brand

Me: If u say so

Shane🐷: I do. Just do some research on what her favourite food is and buy some stuff u think would be good for a date

Me: Ok fine. c u soon

Shane🐷: thx gar

Turning off my phone, I see the cute guy still staring at me. Well if Andrew is going to be taken soon I might as well go say hi.

"Hey, I'm Garrett," I greet him.

"H-hey I'm Cam."

"Cam, that's a nice name," I smile.

Wow, smooth flirting Garrett.

"Thanks. You too." He smirks back at me.

"Would you like to get a drink sometime?"

What the fuck are you doing Garrett? You met this guy two minutes ago and he's probably not even gay.

"Sure, I'd like that a lot."

"R-really? What's your number?" I ask surprised.

"It's 077..."

Cam🍻: hey

Cam laughs and looks at my phone.

"Hey, why is mine the emoji beer? That implies I'm some alcoholic."

"Cause we're going out for drinks I guess?"

"Fair enough. You got any plans for the rest of the day"

"I'm sorry, I've actually got to go. I'm planning this blind date for my friend."

"You don't sound that happy about it?"

I laugh, "I'm just stressed, I guess."

"Should probably let you go then, can't have the date being a disaster because I distracted you."

"Thanks, nice talking to you," I smile gratefully.

"No worries, see you soon?"

"Sure. See you soon," I say, grabbing my stuff from the table.

"Good luckkkkkkk," He smiles as I distracted wave him goodbye, checking my phone.

I ignore Andrew's and delete the other message. Ok, let's lookup Megan then. Holy fuck she's pretty. Like damn. Straight up gorgeous. I can see why Andrew likes her so much. Wow, did I really think he'd pick me over her? As I scroll through her pictures the more and more I dislike her. She just looks so perfect. So much more perfect than me. I shake myself out of the thought and focus on her pictures. It looks like her favourite food is fries. Do I really have to buy them for her? Of course, I do. I can't mess this up for Andrew. He's been dreaming of her months. How could I ruin my best friend's chance at love just because I like him? I swing by Walmart and pick up the stuff I need, then head to McDonald's to pick up her food.

As I sit there in my car, thinking about everything, something suddenly occurs to me. We don't have a cameraman for tonight. Andrew is going to be kinda occupied.

Me: Hey Matt I know it's short notice but do u think u could help me out

Me: pls

Me: I'd owe you one

Matt📹: for sure, what do u need?

Me: can u film something for me tonight

Matt: what thing?

Ugh, I don't want to tell him. He knows how much I like Andrew. Do I really want his sympathy

Me: for Andrews date :(

Matt📹: I'm sorry Garrett. U sure you want to see it?

Me: I have to for Andrew. Be great if u were there for moral support?

Matt📹: of course I'll do it and u don't owe me anything

Me: yeah I got a cameraman

Shane🐷: great see u tonight

Me: yeah. Can't wait

How the hell am I going to get through this?

My Answer: I've never really surprised anyone. Everyone I know hates surprises. Probably when I'm buying birthday presents for people.
