"My Chinese isn't perfect," Adrien said, "but I know enough to make out what's happening."

The teenagers watched anxiously has Brie listened to the news on the TV set attentively. It showed an akumatized victim, attacking the Times Square. Civilians were running for their lives, parents picking up their small children, calling for their loved ones. Struggling to translate the words as accurately as possible, Brie explained to the others that the akumatized man was screaming for Cat Noir to hand over his Miraculous.

Adrien gulped fearfully in response. "I figured."

"I can't stand this anymore." Chloe growled in determination, "I want to fight. Especially when what they want is Adrien." Alya nodded in agreement.

"You're gonna scare them even more." Pollen argued, glancing at the other kwamis.

"So what?" Alya was burning in fury, "They need protection. What if someone dies? I'm being serious here. We brought Hawkmoth to Hong Kong. We brought him over to kill. If anyone gets hurt, it's our fault."

"No... no, it's my fault."

The bluenette stood at the back of the group. Her hands were tucked against her furiously beating heart. She was furious... at herself. The image of the horrors displayed on the screen was burned into her brain, and all she could feel was the disappointment she had for herself. She was the one who failed to protect her Miraculous, to protect Tikki. She felt the wound deepen at the thought of her kwami's name. And now Hawkmoth was after Adrien, the boy she loved.

Yes, she loved that boy.

God knows what Hawkmoth would do to Chat when he's in his clutches. She felt like she was destroying everything she touched. Wasn't that Chat's job?

A pair of strong arms wrapped around her and squeezed her. Marinette inhaled and was engulfed with a very calming scent. Adrien started rubbing tiny circles into her back, then turned to the others.

"I think you should go..." Adrien said, "Those people need someone to tell them everything is okay. And once we get Ladybug back in action, she'll reverse everything back to normal. I'll stay here. Hawkmoth wouldn't find me."

Wayzz lowered his green head. "I still don't think this is a good idea."

"Why?" Nino asked his kwami.

"You're literally bringing Hawkmoth what he wants. He's not only after Cat Noir's Miraculous, you know."

It was a difficult decision for the heroes, but their minds were made up. A minute later, Carapace, Rena and Queen Bee were jumping across buildings, the people down below who spotted them were petrified. Rena wanted to assure them that they weren't going to hurt them, but she did not speak their language.

The three heroes faced the villian off. "Our goal is to protect the people." Rena reminded the pair, "You two evacuate the civilians, I'll take care of this guy."

Queen Bee nodded and dropped herself down on the streets. Carapace froze on the spot. "Please be careful, Rena Rouge."

For a second, there was nothing but him and her, and Rena found herself lost in the sincerity in his eyes. She shook her head. "You don't love me." and she launched herself at the villian.

Carapace was shocked. What? He also shook himself back to reality. Deal with this later, Nino. You have more important things to attend to right now.

He landed next to a bunch of civilians and they cried out in fear. I mean- who wouldn't be scared of a turtle man with goggles, especially after analysing all mythology that existed? He tried smiling at them, then forced open the jammed door to let them escape. The people didn't have to be told twice. A few times he evacuated the people safely and lowered a few hurt or disabled people onto the streets, where ambulances and police cars were arriving and slamming their breaks. Queen Bee used dramatic gestures to lead the civilians off the site and as far away as possible.

"Here, let me carry him." She said to a man, who was carrying an infant in his arms. She sighed in relief when he started speaking decent English.

"I lost wife in crowd." The man said, distraught, "Don't know you."

"Don't worry right now." Queen Bee told him, "Where did you last see her?"

The man's face softened. "Two." He said, pointing at the building.

Queen Bee ran towards the building and gave Carapace a thumbs up when she went past him. Carapace smiled and returned the gesture. With a new burst of energy, Queen Bee raced up to the second floor.

"Anyone here?" She yelled, limiting her English vocabulary to the most basic words, "I'm not a bad person!"

A woman hesitantly limped out from hiding.

"Hold on." Queen Bee reached out for her, "You'll be safe."

Once they landed safely away from the danger, the man ran up to them and embraced his wife. Then he turned to Queen Bee and clasped his hands together.

"Thank you." and off they went.

Queen Bee broke into a smile and rushed back to the scene with a new burst of pride.

"Queen Bee! I need you!" Carapace cried.

"Is everyone out of the building?"

"Yes. I checked and double checked. We need to go help Rena Rou-"

The scream that drowned out the rest of Carapace's sentence sent a shiver down both their spines.

I just love when I'm completely unoriginal and can't think of a name for a villain. Thanks for reading.
