"Are you seriously not coming to Topanga's after school?!" Riley asks clearly frustrated with me. I knew I shouldn't be pushing my luck with her and spend more time with the brunette instead of ditching every group hang out she's asked me to come to. "I don't think so no" I reply avoiding eye contact with her as I keep walking down the hallway towards our next class.
"Why not?" She questions trying to keep up with me, "Maya you haven't been hanging out with us for the past week, what's going on with you?" She asks grabbing my arm and turning me around so she can look at me.
"Nothing" I sigh running my fingers through my hair, she eyes me sceptically and slowly shakes her head, "You would never hide something from me or lie, what has Josh done to you?" I furrow my brows, looking at her confused. What the hell did she mean by that?
"Nothing" I growl in annoyance as I yank my arm out of her grip and enter math class. I take my usual seat and ignore the look Riley is giving me. Hiding my relationship with Josh to my best friend is probably one of the hardest things to do but she wouldn't understand, she's never been in our position. She would just deny every thing we tell her and say it's just an act, she wouldn't believe us and I couldn't risk her tearing Josh and I apart especially when he's getting back to his old self.
"Alright, I'm going to give you back the quiz we took yesterday and we are going to start the lesson with correcting any mistakes you did. I expect you to work quietly and if you have any questions raise your hands" our math teacher explains whilst grabbing a stack of paper and handing them out to each of his students.
I bite my finger nails, and bounce my foot up and down as I wait for my paper nervously. Josh showed me a few tricks that could help me memorize formulas and help me do equations better and I just hoped it worked, I wanted to make him proud. At least a B would be good.
"Well done Miss. Hunter" the teacher says handing me my quiz, "I hope you'll keep up this improvement throughout the end of the year" he adds before walking off.
I look back down at my paper and stare at the bright red marking in shock, I certainly did not expect what I got.
"What'd you get?" Farkle asks leaning towards my desk, "I-I" I stutter trying to make sense of how on earth I managed to get that grade. "I got an A-" I reply shifting my gaze to look at Farkle with a wide smile, " Really?" He asks clearly surprised. I nod and turn my paper for him to look at it.
"How on earth did you do that?!" He exclaims taking the paper from my hands and looking at it confused, "What? What's wrong?" Riley asks. "She got an A" Farkle says in shock as he lifts my paper for Riley to look, "In maths" he adds making Riley's eyes widen.
"H-How?" She stutters turning her gaze towards me, I shrug with a smile "Your uncle" I answer taking my paper from Farkle and looking through it. "B-but I tried to-to teach you so many damn times b-but you never got better than a C" she says getting frustrated.
I shrug "He's just a better teacher than you" I admit lifting my pencil to start working on the answers I got wrong.

"Hey!" Zay says running towards me once the bell rings, "Hi" I reply starting to walk towards my locker. "Riley said you weren't coming to Topanga's" he says as I nod, "Yeah and?" I question stopping in front of my locker.
"And?!" He exclaims "Maya the more you ditch us to spend time with that guy who's probably using you, the more easily Riley's gonna find out!" He says clearly frustrated. I glare at him and take a step towards him keeping my gaze onto his, "The next time you mention that Josh is using me, will be the last time you'll be able to talk" I threaten.
