Chapter 4

Serenity

Finding a dark and peaceful place, I sat down with my head on my hands, sobbing. Goddess, it's been a long damn time since I've felt like this. I forced myself to never bring those memories back, now it feels like I'm reliving every moment of it. It's like I could still see the blood, taste the blood off my own tongue, and smelled the stench of dead bodies.I lifted my head to the side, vomiting from what felt like déjà vu.

"You're worthless..."

"You were the cause of what happened! The rogues they wanted you!"

"We have to go before other rogues come because of her!"

"You're special baby girl, always remember that..." I smiled, as I heard my mom's words in my mind.

"Your nothing but a worthless human! You will never get respect! Not when I'm Alpha!" Lucas's words filled my mind, making me feel vulnerable by the very second, making me frown.

"Serenity, promise me that whatever happens that you will always remember that where you come from doesn't define who we are, it's how we see ourselves and how we manage to fight back the pain of being different," I remember my dad telling me when I was too young to understand.

I was different, everyone is in their own way and we spend every little second asking ourselves why and how.

"Serenity," I heard a soft and gentle voice call my name. Above me was an illuminating light that shined above me. There stood a lady, tall and confident, with shoulder lengthened silvery gray hair, wearing a off shouldered white gown.

"You have come a long way, my child. Something that no one could even endure," the unknown lady said.

"Who- who are you?" I asked fearfully, shielding my eyes of the brightness surrounding her.

"I am known to many as the Light Goddess or to supernaturals, the Moon Goddess," she replied.

Shocked by her response, I quickly bowed my head to the ground with my hand to my heart, "I apologise my Goddess, I can't be able to tell you how pleased I am to meet you....in person?"

She laughed, calmly. "No need for the pleasantries my dear, we are pratically equals, alas, arise and let us walk," she said, bringing me to my feet. As I looked around, I noticed that we were in a familiar surrounding.

"We are in the Blue Moon Territory, where you were born," she answered as I was in question. I couldn't even stand there without thinking of the tragedy that happened and what I have been through.

Anxiety creeped up in my skin, "Did we really have to come here?"

"Watch carefully, dear," was all she said.

As I did, I came to know that we have gone to the past, when my father was just a boy, "Is that--"

"Yes, that is your father. You and him both have similar features, along with some characteristics."

The young version of my father (somewhere around the age of 11) had lived in a cabin, somewhere within the woods, like he told me. I saw him care for his weary mother and knowing that they were poor as is, that had not stopped him from loving his mother.

Knowing what was gonna happen next, I asked the Moon Goddess, "Not to be rude or anything, but what is the point of watching this when I already know what's gonna happen?"

"That is something you have to discover for yourself," she responded, as we were taken to another setting. it was a bit dark and giving me an eerie feeling.

The silver moon started to rise above the nightsky, not long after, I could here howling. My father's young figure wasn't faraway from where we stood. He had been picking up dried sticks and wood, he was there at the wrong time. I ran towards hm, "Dad, you aren't supposed to be here at this time!"

"Unfortunately, he can't hear you," the goddess whispered calmly.

"This was where---" she began to say.

"This was where he met my godfather," finishing her statement.

It was as if on cue when I heard wolves snarling, from the darkness of the bushes. My father hurriedly began to walk faster, but just as he was the growling began to get louder and louder.

"NO!" I cried out. From there, two rogues with red eyes and thirsty fangs jumped out from their hiding place. Then I saw my godfather's wolf form appear from a distance. As an Alpha's son, not yet of age to being an alpha, he still had a big heart by saving some random stranger. Nonetheless, my father could have been a hunter. It didn't feel right just standing there, but even when I screamed and tried to run to them, they would ignore me because I was never there at the time.

It was already too late to cry out since the setting changed. I stared at a beautiful woman, her wavy brunette hair fell down the back of her shoulders. She was holding what seemed like a newborn baby. As I got closer, I realized that this woman was my mother. Tears streamed down my cheeks as did her as she was singing softly to the baby version of me.

I stroked her cheek and I knew that she couldn't feel anything against her cheek. I couldn't help but wonder where was dad.

"Your father had gone home, since your mother had chased him to go take a shower before holding you," the Moon Goddess had replied, typically reading my mind.

I chuckled at the response since I knew how mom could get my dad to do things without him complaining.

"Did you know that you are the first girl to be born through the bloodline of your father?"

I gave her a dumbfounded look, "Your father's bloodline was cursed by the first ever werewolf and because of that, for centuries his bloodline couldn't be able to conceive a baby girl."

"Your ancestor Aldrich Nichols, was a hunter, who not only hunted animals but also anyone who was able to turn into a wolf during the night and human during the day. It never mattered to him if it was a close relative or someone he befriended, he killed for the fame for the power that humans saw him as."

"But one day, his only beloved sister Eleanor was the mate of the first werewolf, Magnus Kristiansen. It was rumored that he had an unknown child who was kept hidden from hunters. However, once Aldrich found out his sister being a mate, he saw that Magnus had already marked her and for that he regretfully killed her and until then the Great Wolf had cursed him individually and then to his bloodline. Never again was he heard of from amongst the shadows and amongst the people."

"But why curse his bloodline for not having any girls?"

"Because he saw how much he loved her sister and how much he cared deeply for her... And because of that whenever his wife was pregnant with girls, she miscarried, if not, then something bad would happen to his wife if the gender of the baby was a girl."

"So you let that happen to him? His curse was successful?"

"My dear, there is a reason why I am the Moon Goddess, however once a human is cursed by an ancient, even I can't be able to reverse it."

"So how was I born? Why is it that I was the only girl to be conceived?"

"That my dear, will soon be answered, but for now you must go." Her light was then consumed by the darkness of the forests.

I fell deep within the shadows and the darkness yet captured me.
