3. Where My Heart Is On the Ground [edited]

I rolled my head over as my neck was starting to kill me.

I sat up when I saw that it was almost 4 in the morning.

I shook my head as I went down the steps and out the library doors.

The parties were still going strong as I made the turn and went back across the courtyard to my dorm.

"Didn't think you would come back."

I stopped when his voice was like icicles going down my back.

"Really wished someone would have told me and maybe I would have..."

"You would have what Xavier?" I turned back to him.

He smiled back at me, "You gotta get over shit."

"I gotta what?"

"You think that I did something that night."

"I know you did something."

Xavier laughed back at me, "You were drunk."

"And let me guess, I was asking for it?"

"You and Camille."

I looked at him.

"Yea, I don't care about that. Camille made me out to be some sick fuck and I wasn't. I just really wanted to talk to her and you freaked out. You freaked out and fucked me over."

"Don't talk to me Xavier." I said walking away from him.

"You will get what is coming to you Anna. Don't forget that."

I kept walking across the courtyard as I went into my dorm.

I unlocked the door to my room when I heard the laughter down the hallway.

I went into my room when I saw Camille standing by the window.

"You talked to Xavier."

"No, he talked, I yelled."

"You know he is gonna push it that I did everything that night."

"Yea, I know Camille."

"I did nothing."

"I know Camille."

Camille glanced back at me, "What is everyone saying about me?"

"More like what are they saying about me?"

Camille looked back out the window, "We used to have fun at college. We have to laugh and smile."

I looked back at her as I tossed my clothes to the side, "And then that night happened."

"I wish it never happened."

I nodded my head back at her, "Yea, I know."

I went into the bathroom for a shower.

"One little mistake is gonna dictate the rest of our lives."

I stopped at the shower door as Camille was at the bathroom door, "I know."

"I'm going out for a walk."
