Chapter 1: Manager Oppa

JENNIE's POV

I just got a call from my agency that they have replaced a new Manager Oppa for me. The old ones? Maybe the agency fired him or maybe he just resigned by himself. Who knows?

I wonder though, Is it that hard? To do this simple task as my manager? I admit, my schedule is tight and my managers don't get to have many holidays because they have to accompany me abroad or attend events, carry my stuff, take care of me, watch out for stalkers or crazy fans, buy me healthy food, keep an eye on what I'm doing, take the calls, arrange my schedule and sometimes wake me up. Is it that much to do?

Since I have become well-known, there have been many changes in my life. I have less time for many things even the time I have for my family, even the time for myself. I would share my thoughts with my manager unnie who is responsible for the call, so she only works from the company. I have many managers: one for arranging my schedule from my company, my unnie, who doesn't have to come out and guard me; one who carries my stuff; one who escorts me when I'm out; and one who leads the whole team. And the person who is going to lead the whole team will be here, today. I hope he would not be fired this time. The previous managers were fun to be around since I did not have to care for them much, basically just ignore them.

But, you know, men... and men with a pretty and famous lady, they are uncontrollable somehow. They would steal glances at me sometimes, or try to talk to me, but all the time I just ignored all of them.

*Phone Ringing*

"Hello, Jennie-shi, you're meeting your new team leader manager today." Manager Unnie spoke over the phone which must have been from the company.

"Deh, Unnie. Have you met the new manager Oppa? Will I be safe with him? Have you briefed all the tasks to him? I don't want to teach him anything, I have so little time for people." I kinda spoke out everything that was on my mind.

"Oh my jisoos, you asked so many questions. First, I have met and briefed your manager the overall tasks already, I think everything is alright. Second, it will be 100% safe, I'm sure. Third, it's not like you would teach or have ever taught or talked to any of the managers before. Forth, I think I'm having a crush on the new manager." She made a squealing voice at the end of the sentence. She would make that every time she talks about her crush or something she's interested in.

"Yah, Unnie, be professional! There's no love in this company, remember?" Yes, our company the YxM Entertainment has a strict rule on dating, and it does not apply only to the artists. Once during my trainee era, two trainees were kicked out of our company when they were found dating.

"Deh, I know I know, that's why I did not flirt much and just let it go. I love my job more." She sounds a bit sad, orrrrr she's been single for ages now only to engage with her job.

"Alright, I have a shooting coming up so I have to go now. Tell the Manager Oppa to come to my shooting venue and pick me up for dinner." I told my Unnie. Today the new manager has to come to familiarize himself to the environment and to show himself to me. If I'm not happy with him, I'll just inform my manager Unnie and he'll be let go right after. But, I have never rejected anyone before since you know, I understand that people do need a chance and a job.

"Wait, Jennie, I..." She couldn't finish her line since I had to hang up for the shoot.

*After The Shoot*

Gosh I'm so tired. I think my energy is all drained.

"Here, I bought you some milk flavored ice cream." A voice spoke behind my back. I was sitting and leaning my head on my chair with the name [Jennie Kim], and my eyes were closed.

My eyes went wide when I opened them. In the mirror in front of me stood a girl looking so swag but she has this very small and Barbie-like face. Is she a new model for the brand?

"Em, thank you but do I know you?" I really didn't want to take things from a stranger.

"Ms. Kim. My name is Lalisa Manoban. I am the new manager for you." She said and bowed to me, still with her swag on. I think if she smiles, she can melt both boys and girls' heart.

"Alright.... do you know all the rules and things you should do?" I asked, still talking while staring into the mirror.

"Yes, Jennie-Shi." She answered without looking at me.

"Why are you not looking at me when you talked to me?"

"How could I look at you when I was talking to a mirror?" She answered, still looking at everywhere else but me.

"Now talk to me by looking at me in the eyes." I stood up from my seat and looked at her. I was really annoyed since she's not looking at a person while conversing.

"Why should I look at your eyes when you're talking Miss?" She asked, still looking elsewhere. This girl is pissing me off.

"Because it's basic politeness."

"I'm being polite by not looking at my boss in the eyes."

"If you're saying I'm your boss then I order you to look me in the eyes while we're conversing."

"To look at you like this?" She asked and stared into my eyes. Her face is emotionless but her stares, there's something in the stare that made me froze in my stand for a few moments.

"Em, y-yes." Jennie Kim, why are you stuttering? It's not the first time someone talks to you and looks you in the eyes!

"Should I talk like this as well?" She suddenly moved forward. I had to step back until my back reached the wall of the dressing room that only both of us were in.

"Should I? Miss Kim?" She asked while looking straight into my eyes, her right hand was on the wall for support.

My eyes blinked for god knows how many times. I can smell the perfume on her clothes. It's quite soothing to inhale.

"W-What are you doing?"

"I'm making a confirmation of what I should do to please my boss, Miss Kim."

"You-you don't have to be like that. Just normal talking. Yes, normal talking and basic eye contacts." I said while pushing myself away from her.

Was she like that when she met Manager Unnie as well? That's why she has a crush on her? Wait, her? Seriously?

"Miss Kim, you must be hungry. There is no more schedule after this. I will take you to a good restaurant. What would you like to have?" She asked as if she's a robot. It seemed like she had zero interest in me. Why would I say that? Cuz I'm the nation's top star, everyone wants to have a conversation with me. My fans and suitors are both men and women.

While she, she cares for nothing.

"Surprise me."
