Brother's Best Friend

Chapter 13

We follow Kayden and as we walk Andrew drapes an arm over my shoulder holding me close.

Eren was in front of us so it was nice knowing he was doing this not to get a rise out of Eren. He was talking to Ian and surprisingly, Lee spoke with Kayden.

Our whole walk there Stella kept glancing at Andrew and me and everytime I caught her eye, she gave me a suggestive wink over how close Andrew and I were being- how clearly happy we both were

When we got to McDonald's Eren and Lee said they would bring our food over to us as long as we got the seats.

They struggled to remember just Nimue, Stellas and Ian's orders, let alone Kayden and mine so Kayden rummaged through his bag and took out a notepad, one of many that I noticed were in there.

He ripped out a blank page and handed Nimue a pencil. She leaned the paper against the brick wall of the building and wrote her order down. Everyone did this one by one.

Just as Ian was going to hand me the pencil and paper to write my order down, Eren snatched it from his grasp. Leaving in his hand only the pencil. I thought he was just messing around but Eren went straight for the entrance 

"Hey! I didn't write mine down yet" I call to him, like he didn't already known that. Even Lee had hung back confused. Thinking he was going to come back and return it any second. He stops with his hand on the glass door, holding it open

"I know your order by now, princess" He calls back with a quick nod of his head before heading straight into the building.

Lee sighed and followed him in, leaving me alone to deal with the aftermath after what he said. I felt everyone's eyes on me

"What did he just call you?" Stella asks with amusement in her tone. I turn and look at Andrew instead.

Although Stella was the one who asked the question, I know Andrew wanted to hear the answer more. He had his hands in his Jean pockets, squinting with a head tilt and nodding along with Stellas question

"Its just a dumb nickname that he started calling me after prom. I keep telling him to drop it but he insists on calling me it..." I let my voice trail off because I knew I was just going to make it worse for myself.

I bet money Eren did that on purpose. Calling me that in front of everyone. In front of my boyfriend. What an ass 

"Sounds like more of a pet name to me" Kayden mumbles to Nimue and Andrew hears.

In fact, we all hear. He's not very quiet when he whispers. I ignore him as Nimue nudges him. He tightens his lips together when he realises how loud he was.

Surprisingly, Andrew shrugs. Taking his hands out of his pocket and wrapping an arm around my neck

"It's not that big of a deal" Andrew laughs and everyone shrugs it off, like there was this tension in the air waiting for Andrew to blow "You're with me and not him for a reason, right?" He whispers close to my ear and I look up at him. Was that a trick question?

I think he notices the confused look on my face and smiles, making butterflies form in my stomach. His smile is gorgeous

"Lets just go and get our seats" he says 

"Agreed!" Ian says loudly grabbing Nimue's hand and marching in front of everyone, dragging her with him. He either wanted to get away from the situation or he was missing Lee.

Either way it sounds like Ian
Inside McDonald's we were greeted with the sounds of laughing and crying kids. The distinct chicken nugget smell and the beeping sound of the machines behind the counter.
