It was a long, painful day without Chan. Everything felt so boring

He missed Chan so much, he missed his smile, his laugh, how his smile always reached his eyes and how his dimples always showed, his company, everything, and it had only been a day.

As Jeongin walked out of doors of the school like many other kids were, he was surprised and a little angry to see a familiar person leaning against the wall.

"Chan?" Jeongin questioned as he narrowed his eyebrows at the boy in question, time seemingly moving faster as people continued to walk by.

"Uh... Hey, innie," Chan greeted and smiled apologetically.

Despite how much Jeongin wanted to run up to him and squeeze him in the tightest hug ever and how soft that nickname made him feel, he stood his ground and crossed his arms. "Hey," Jeongin greeted back as he glared daggers at Chan.

"I heard you were worried," Chan paused as he sadly looked at the ground. "I'm really sorry."

"Why don't you go somewhere else and say sorry," Jeongin replied simply.

Chan was taken aback by his reply, although he felt it was fair, Jeongin then realizing something.

"N-no, I don't want you to leave!" Jeongin said worriedly as he slowly relaxed his arms at his side. "I, uh... I meant that it's crowded here, I would prefer an apology somewhere else... ya know, maybe like a park or something."

Chan smiled brightly, saying happily, "let's head to the park."

Jeongin was confused at what he meant at first, but followed him nonetheless.
The walk to the park was silent, but comfortable. Wind passed by, carrying a few brown, orange and yellow leaves with it.

"I think it can be considered fall now," Jeongin said with a bright smile on his face, Chan nodding with a smile just as bright.

It didn't take long until they reached the park, Jeongin immediately understanding what he meant by the park.

In this park was one of the trees Jeongin got stuck in, and that Chan had to help him get out of.

"Aw, c'mon, it isn't that bad!" Chan laughed after he seen Jeongin's expression, which clearly displayed dread.

"Yeah, the park full of all of my most embarrassing memories," Jeongin stated, cringing as memories flooded his mind.

"Wait, more has happened here than you getting stuck in a tree?"

"Okay, look, we're not here to talk about all the ways I have embarrassed myself," Jeongin said defensively, sitting down on a bench as Chan did the same. "Tell me why you weren't at school."

Chan let out a shaky breath and nodded, clinching his eyes shut. "My parents are coming home from a business trip."

Jeongin's eyebrows narrowed in confusion, he didn't understand. Chan opened his eyes and realized how strange that must have sounded.

"My parents and I used to be really close, but they've been really rude and bitter lately," Chan clarified as he looked across the park, just so he didn't have to make eye contact. " It makes my house feel empty and dark... It doesn't feel like a home anymore and I don't know what I did wrong for them to be like this."
