The Ocean and I

The ocean, here I stay.
And watch my sandcastle

Be washed away

The castle I spent hours building
Collecting shells for hearing

Using sticks for people; children

This, my big sandcastle kingdom
Of course I had expected the waves.

Built a huge moat

Bringing my kingdom water
They would use for days

But the water kept flowing
Altering the sand

It reached my walls
And as though it were a hand

It swept my buildings, my little shops
My shells for hearing

And my stick people ran aloft

My kingdom was ruined
By the unforgiving waves

But I did not weep
For I would just rebuild again

But to say I did not learn a lesson
Would be a lie so to say

Because the lesson I learnt that day

Was that I and the iteration of the ocean
Were the same
