Soon after, Mina quietly entered and sat beside Jeongyeon, her eyes flicking over to Sana with worry.
The last time Sana drank just three cups, she turned into ToMaTo. Now, there were multiple soju bottles on the table—but only one was opened, and it still looked nearly full.
"She really has extremely low tolerance," Mina said, eyeing the bottle's contents.
"Yeah, she is," Jeongyeon nodded. "Anyway, Sana, this is from Tzuyu."
She handed Sana a folded letter. Maybe it wasn't the best time to give something meaningful to a drunk person—but there wasn't really a right time anymore.
Sana opened the letter with shaky hands. Her face twisted, like she could cry at any moment.
The room fell completely silent. All eyes on Sana.
Waiting. Hoping. Fearing.Then—
"I broke up with Tzuyu..." her voice cracked like something splitting open."Broke up?!" Jeongyeon and Mina exclaimed in unison.
Suddenly, Sana burst out, her voice loud and raw:
"People DON'T understand what our relationship was like! I've known her for seven years! That's one-third of my life! I even feel closer to her than my own parents..."
Her voice broke again as she mumbled, "Tzuyu used to be my everything..."
Jeongyeon couldn't say a word. She just stared blankly.
"Stop looking at me! Just drink with me!" Sana demanded.
Jeongyeon and Mina both silently raised a cup and drank. Sana only took a small sip and buried her head on the table.
Mina finished hers in one gulp and poured herself another. Jeongyeon gently patted Sana's back and sipped slowly.
"!?" Jeongyeon flinched in surprise.
Sana had suddenly leaned over, crying hard into Jeongyeon's shoulder.
And then, just like that... she went quiet.
"Sana?" Jeongyeon asked carefully.
"...zzz"
My poor Sana... Jeongyeon gently wiped Sana's tears with her thumb and let her rest on her shoulder.
"...Mina, you finished the whole bottle?" she said, noticing the empty green glass.
"Oh? I didn't realize." Mina blinked blankly at her cup.
"You should stop," Jeongyeon said, and pushed the other two bottles out of reach.
.
."It was only a smile..." Mina murmured to herself, a soft smile appearing. "But it was enough to make me go weak."
"??" Jeongyeon blinked, confused.
"She's always there... in my mind," Mina continued. "Every day, when I see her, I feel happy for the whole day, when our eyes meet, it feels like her eyes burn into mine... like I've stared at the sun for too long"
Jeongyeon raised a brow. "Mina... you sound like you have a crush on someone"
Mina nodded. "I do, but she'll never be mine" Her voice quieted, turning soft with sadness. "I saw her red string... connected to someone else. No one knows this, but I could acquire anyone I want. But it's too dangerous—it could... cause death"
Jeongyeon blinked. "Huh? What are you talking about?"
Mina stared blankly into her cup. "Tss... I'm the cursed child, I was born different"
Jeongyeon tilted her head. Cursed child? She'd never heard that term before.
"Yeah... sounds cool, right?" Mina said with a bitter laugh.
Jeongyeon just nodded along, not sure what else to do. "Yeah... totally cool."
Mina took another drink. "But after I found out the Red String of Fate could cause death... I was shook, I don't want to hurt anyone, I just want everyone to be happy"
She exhaled. "But for that, I sacrificed my own happiness."
Jeongyeon looked at her with concern. "What do you mean?"
Mina didn't seem to hear. "Believe it or not... I can only see the Red String when I like someone"
She paused. Then quietly continued. "Back in secondary school, I had a best friend—I called her Chaeng. She was the first person whose red string I saw with my bare eyes"
Jeongyeon listened closely now, no longer confused—just silent.
"Even though I could see her faint red line, we dated without knowing about the Red String...and it was the happiest time in my life," Mina smiled widely with her eyes closed. "But I came to know that I might accidentally take her life, and not long after, I knew that she experienced weird chest pain...only with me"
Mina tears up, "I leave like what Tzuyu did.... I run away like a coward..."
That information is a bit foreign to Jeongyeon, she could only rub Mina's head, "Past is a past, it's a bit complicated, but at least you did that because you cared and loved her"
Those word sounds like the sentence she has been wanting to hear. Mina burst into tears and
buried her face. "thankyou.."Jeongyeon let her cry all she needed; she patted her back, while Sana still dozed off beside her.
..
"Can you walk? If yes, you can go up and sleep on my bed" Jeongyeon said to her.
"Of course I can, I'm still sober, hehe"
Mina stands up and walks like a zombie and hit herself to the wall.
Jeongyeon can't help but laugh at Mina, "Pfft, Sober?"
"Forget it, I will sleep here" Mina goes back and sit on the floor, She rests her head on the table and went to the dream universe in seconds.
.
.What an unusual day, Am I the only one who is sober here?
"Tzuyu..." Sana mumbled.
"Sana, Can you hear me?" Jeongyeon tapped her shoulders.
"Tzzzz Tzzzuuu" Sana mumbled again.
Jeongyeon sighed and took off her jacket and cover Sana as a blanket.
Stay strong everyone... Time will heal everything
