Ode to the Moon

The sun rises just for me
The moon turns for you
Galaxies in harmony
A sky of astral blue

No one else can see it
The way that I see you
Shedding your perfect light
Your light which holds so true

Every night that you arise
I slide down in despair
For your presence is my light
and nothing can compare

You are the moon
Yet with the moon comes night
To none except for me you are
My everything, my light

I long for you, dear moon
Though you could never stay
Time is always turning
You are too far away

I wish to love you more although
Tranquility will call
I know I'll have to rise again
Each morning that you fall

You are my universe
I see you in every star
This place does not deserve
The perfection that you are

My heart belongs to you
My iridescent love
If only I could join you
In the cosmos up above

I can be your sun
We can take this world tonight
I want to be your shoulder
I want to be your light

Though if you do not need me
I think that'd be okay
For I will always be here
If you decide to stay

And I will always love you
My coruscating moon
To the world you cater
Your endless love is strewn

I am but a star
And you are so much more
So I can understand if you
Will leave me here alone

To the world you cater,
Your endless love is strewn
My everything, my everything
My perfect, lovely moon
