I Really Don't Want To Be Here

Irene P.O.V
I was back in Sokovia. Back to Strucker. But the Avengers would deal with him. Meanwhile, I stayed in the jet. I had cameras monitoring everything the Avengers were doing. I had my comm in and would update and inform everyone.
"Shit!"
Tony's voice came through, most likely cause he just hit the shields around the base.

"Language!"
I snorted and almost spat out my tea, choking on it. I couldn't stop laughing. "There's an Enhanced in the field. Male."
Steve's voice rang through the comm.
"What does he look like popsicle?"
That was my nickname for Steve. I had one for everybody.

Fury was 'pirate', Clint was 'bird', Sam was 'wingman', Nat was 'red', Bruce was 'greenie', Tony was 'genius' *derogatory*, Rhodey was 'aluminium', Thor was 'Goldilocks' and I had earned myself the nickname 'tiny'.
"I don't know. Too fast."
I instantly thought of the Maximoff boy. I spotted Clint on the cameras.

He had just been knocked over by the Enhanced. Super speed.
"You did not see that coming?"
His Sokovian accent was very clear, just like my own. I took a good look at him. Blond/silver hair with brown roots. Piercing blue eyes. If he was not the enemy I might say he was attractive. As I wrote it down, I heard Clint gasp in pain.

It seems Skoryy (Speedy) had just hit him with one of the guns around the forest, on top of the bunkers.
"Uhh, Clint's hit."
I winced. It looked bad. As I looked around, I noticed the gun was still firing.
"Red, the bunker."
"Hey, can somebody deal with that bunker!?"
Banner came charging through.
"Thank you!"
I heard Clint groaning, probably trying not to scream. I spoke into my comm.

"Guys, Clint's hit pretty bad."
"Irene, you better not be on the field," Steve spoke, always being the protective uncle.
"I'm sorry, is no one gonna deal  with the fact that Cap just said language?" Tony spoke.
I once again snorted, choked, and cackled. I really have to stop drinking on missions.
 "I know."
I watched as Steve flung his motorbike (that by the way, was vintage) into a tank.
"It just slipped out."
"Aw Steve, I loved that bike" I whined.
"I know. I'm sorry kid."

I was preparing the jet to pick up the Avengers and leave when I felt a stabbing pain in my head. I fell to the ground and as I looked around, I found myself on a cliff, with my Aunt Sophie. I was 7 years old, it was the middle of winter, and we were taking selfies on her phone.
"Hey Kot Kotenok (Kitty Cat), I'm going to stand on the edge of the cliff okay? Can you take a picture of me?"
I nodded.

I watched as little me raised the phone. Sophie stood on the edge and spread her arms out as if she had wings. I snapped a picture. She looked beautiful. Then she spotted snow starting to fall from the clouds.
"Kitty look! The snow! Isn't it beautiful? The fairies are celebrating, it's all their confetti!"
Seeing as I was 7 and still believed in fairies, she would go along with my fantasies, which looking back on it now, I greatly appreciated.

She tilted her head back to look at it. Then everything seemed to go in slow motion. As she looked at the "confetti", she lost her balance and cried out. She fell.  I screamed, both past me and present me.
"Sophie!"
I fell to my knees, sobbing violently. She was gone. Again. Then I woke up. In front of me were Natasha and Clint.
"Hey, you okay?"
I nodded.

Clint looked suspicious.
"Hey, you don't have to lie. If you're not okay, it's fine to say so."
But I persisted.
"I'm fine, really. Just need some space. Ved'ma (witch) really messed with my mind. Bit ironic really."
But I mumbled the last part under my breath. And in French. Just to be sure. I was having trouble breathing. Why? Because what the Maximoff kid just showed me, wasn't just my worst fear. It was a memory.

A/N Hey guys! I'm sorry these chapters have been short-ish. Been having a bit of writer's block. But anywho. Irene's worst fear is portrayed a little differently here. Her worst fear is losing her loved ones and it's translated into that memory of Sophie. Yikes.

 Yikes
