'I first went out on the road with Elvis for shows in Texas. Driving on these wide old roads, we'd stop what seemed like every few miles. There were all these road side stands and Elvis would want to stop at every one.
He had a lot of nervous energy, you see; he just couldn't sit still for very long. At the stands he would get a bottle of coke and buy some Firecrackers. He got the biggest kick out of trying to hit billboards and roadside signs with them.
That's why we had to stop so much-he'd run out of Firecrackers! How we kept to our schedule I'll never know!'
