'In general, Elvis Presley loved being Elvis Presley, but there were a few moments when even he was Suprised at who he was.
I remember one rainy evening he and I were driving back to Graceland from a night out somewhere. Halfway up the driveway, he suddenly stopped the car.
"GK, you see that big house up there?" He asked.
"Uh, yeah-I see it, Elvis."
"And you see this fancy car I'm driving. You see these diamonds I'm wearing?" He held out his hand to show off some of his large rings. "Yeah, Elvis."
"Man, I sure hope it's not a dream."
He wasn't kidding around. it was like a serious moment of reflection for him. I thought about all the very real changes in my life that happened because of him, then gave him an easy answer.
"It ain't no dream, Elvis," I assured him. "Believe me, it ain't a dream."
