Chapter 4

It's early the next morning.
Almost too early for Maya to be awake but however nothing was normal.
She knew she had to talk to Lucas and find out why he did it.
Is he cheating or is he over Riley?

Maya had just told Cory and Topanga that night and ghet were discussing it.

"Why on earth did he do it?" Cory asked as he was ready to go crazy.
"I think I'm going to NYU to see him and sort everything out," Maya said and took the last sip of her coffee.
"The rest is also there," Topanga said and Maya smiled.
"Okay. My attention needs to be devided after yesterday," Maya said causing both Cory and Topanga to stare at her.
"What happened?" Topanga asked and Maya sighted.

Why does everything have to be so complicated? she thought by herself.

"Nothing. Let me get going. As soon as I see the other we won't stop chatting. See you guys later," Maya said and ran out the door.

When she stopped at New York University she knew what she would see wasn't going to be good but who was a different matter.

"Farkle Minkus," Maya said and a guy turned around.
"My gosh. Maya. What are you doing here?" Farkle asked while giving her a hug.
"I'm back. We landed yesterday and so far I regret it. Where is Lucas?" Maya asked.
"Somewhere. What is wrong?" Farkle asked and Maya decided to be vague.
"You wanna know?" Maya asked and laughed then she saw Farkle's girlfriend.

"Isadora."
"Maya welcome back," said Isadora Smackle or knowed as Smackle.
"Thank you," said Maya.
"How are you?" asked Smackle while hugging Maya.
"Good Smackle. Wow you are really starting te get good with these," Maya said as she knew Smackle never liked hugs.
"I'm glad."

Maya quickly saw another one of her friends and was as chirpy as ever.

"Isaiah Babineaux."
"Maya Hart? Gosh how long has it been?" said Zay and hugged her.
"Two years and it's Hunter now. Where is Lucas? I came to see him."
"There."

Maya looked over to where Lucas Friar was talking to a few guys.

"Does he know?" asked Farkle.
"Nope."
"Come let's surprise him," said Zay and they went over.

"Lucas looks like you have an angry girl here to see you," said Zay and Lucas' eyes widend.
"What? What girl is angry at..."

"How are you Ranger Rick?" asked Maya and was he surprised.
"Maya! My gosh. How are you?" asked Lucas and gave her a hug.
"Much better than Riley. What possed you?" Maya asked and wasn't happy.
"Can we talk later? I have a class."

Tipical.
Wants to get away.

"Sure. You have my number," said Maya and Lucas was of.

"How long are you staying? A month?" asked Zay and Maya laughed.
"Permanent Zay. My mom has already got a job and my dad is looking at houses. We're staying at the Matthews till we have our own place," Maya said.
"Run into Josh?" asked Farkle and Maya's mood dropped.

She didn't actually know how she felt about that.
Maybe a bit awkward.

"On my first day back, yeah. I did yesterday. Wasn't pleasant."
"How come?" Zay asks and Maya sights.
"We admitted we liked each other three years ago and now I'm back," said Maya.
"You will get used to being back," said Farkle.
"Hope so. I gotta go. Why don't we arrange to hang out on Friday?" asked Maya.
"I'll arrange with Riley," said Farkle.

Maya's pov

I go to a park just a few minutes from NYU.
It's dead quite.
The silence is something I could get used to.
My mind keeps racing around yesterday with Josh.
I can't get over how good it felt to see him again.
But it didn't also.
I have always thought when I saw him I would be kinda happy.
But now I have these mix feelings of happiness and sadness.
I don't know if we can go back to what we were.
I don't even know what we were.

"What are you thinking so hard about?" a voice disturbs Maya and she gets a fright.
"Josh. Just stuff. Trying to help Riley," said Maya and Josh sat down next to her.

He knew something was wrong for his niece not to be happy.
He just knew it.

"What is wrong? She should be over the moon."
"Lucas left her. I'm trying to figure out why but it's harder than I thought," said Maya and Josh laughs.

Of course he didn't tell her how it is.

"Well their relationship is quiet complicated," said Josh and Maya sights.
"Thanks for warning me," Maya said in a sarcastic voice.
"You wouldn't have listened to me even if I did warn you. How come you are sitting here?" Josh asked.
"Trying to get my breath. Things are a lot more complicated than I thought."
"How so?" Josh asked and Maya rolls her eyes.
"You know why," said Maya and leaned back.
"I guess seeing me was..."
"No. It... Well... Maybe I just wasn't ready to see you so soon," said Maya.
"Why?"

How stupid are you? Maya wondered.
He knows why she wasn't ready yet she doesn't even know.

"I don't know. I... Things are complicated Josh. Even with the two of us."
"Yeah it is. Maybe we just need to give it time," said Josh.
"Maybe we just need to give us time to get used to each other again," Josh said with a smile on his face.

Which also made Maya smile.
She looked at her watch and saw how late it was.

"I better get going. See you," said Maya and stood up.
"See you Gorgeous," said Josh.

Maya laughs at the nickname he came up and goes back home.

"Hey. I didn't get much out of him. Where is Riley?" Maya asks.
"In her room," said Cory and Riley comes skipping out.

"Hey Farkle said we are hanging out," Riley said and Maya smiled.
"Yeah I went to see them. When and where?" asked Maya.
"Friday at On the Rocks," Riley said and Maya looked at her.
"On the Rocks?"

She knew this was something to do with alcohol and was scared.

"Their favorite hang out. A pub. But I guess it's okay," Cory said.
"Pub? Riles are you sure?" Maya asked.
"Yes. I need to dance till my feet are sore," Riley said and Maya sighted.
"Okay I guess it can't hurt. But then I have conditions," Maya said.

All three's eyes widend.
Maya Hunter having rules?
Wow that was surprising.

"Fine," Riley said and listened.
"You are not going to drink too much. Three drinks are the limit and just in case you drink on the sly I will not be drinking any alcohol the entire night. Okay?"
"Yes Ma'am," Riley said and Maya looked at her.
"Secondly if you think you are going to escape Lucas you're mistaking. So when you see him you will not run. And third..."
"How many are there?" Riley asked.
"This is the last one. Third you will under no circumstances get behind the wheel drunk. I will be driving then. And if you respect all those then we can go."

Riley thought about it for awhile and then in the end surrendered.
She said fine and Maya went to her room.
She didn't know if Riley was going to do as she said but she knows Cory will make sure of that by sending his little brother.
Surprised?
Not exactly.
Or maybe she will be surprised.
