(This is two years later. They're still dating.)

Asher and Jack were at the lake watching the sun reflecting on the water. They had been dating for two years now. They had many rises and falls but they got through them all. Jack looked at Asher and thought, 'I'm really glad I told him I liked him three years ago.' And Asher looked at Jack and thought, 'I'm so glad that three years ago he told me he liked me.'
They realized they had been looking at each other and laughed.
"Asher?"
"Uh-huh?"
"I need to tell you something."
"What is it?"
"I....I love you."
"I love you too."
