Chase's POV

I was tired. Elodie had been gone for 12 hours and I hadn't found her. I couldn't find her. I felt like a pathetic excuse for a mate. I was the one who was supposed to find her whenever she was lost-the one who should always protect her. Yet here I was with no way of knowing where she was and I had failed at protecting her.

I had been running for hours. I stopped at the edge of the mountain and saw my destination just ahead~Heights.I needed Elodie's dad.

I sprinted through the underbrush-wincing as it scratched parts of my fur. My stomach began forming knots as I thought of the best way to tell Elodie's dad. Hey so your daughter got captured by someone today and I wasn't there to protect her and we don't exactly know who the captures were except that they are from a different pack and that they were two guys. Yeah I definitely needed to reword that.

After I couldn't find Elodie, I ran to her mother telling her immeadiately. Her mother was pissed at me but she held it back and summoned everyone left in the pack to tell them the knews. Everyone started to freak out. Most of the males had gone to repair Heights thus leaving us vulnerable and now one of our own had been taken. Luna Mae had agreed that the best thing would be to get Alpha Wren. So I ran while the others looked over maps and tried to pick up Elodie's scent.

It was eleven at night and the forest was alive with activity, making me think of mine and Elodie's first date. I immeadiately shook off the memory and the pain it was beginning to bring on with it as I ran towards the gates of Heights. I stopped running and shifted back to human form-tugging my clothes on quickly before knocking on the gate.

"Who is it?" I heard in my father's deep tone.

"Dad." I whimpered.

The door swung open immeadiately to reveal my father with a worried look on his face, "Chase what happened?" He said.

I nearly fell into his arms but kept my stance knowing my purpose required quick agility.

"Where's Alpha Wren?" I asked my voice cracking.

My father pulled me in and shut the door behind me-guiding me through the fortress and up a flight of stairs. The repairs were almost done but signs of damage were still apparent to the naked eye.

I walked into a room with my father to see Alpha Wren and Omega Sam.

"Wren." my father spoke causing Alpha to look up immeadiately at who had arrived.

"Chase." He said setting the papers he had been looking at down, "What are you doing here?"

"It's Elodie." I forced out of my mouth.

"What happened to her? Is she alright?" He asked, his face conforming instantly to protectiveness and worry.

"I-I don't know." I stammered, "She was kidnapped."

"Kidnapped?" He spat, "By who?"

"I don't know." I said as he spun away from me and ran his fingers threw his hair.

"How did this happen?" He said with his back to me.

"She was angry at me and so she ran off. I mind-linked her and convinced her to come back. She was returning when they got her."

"They?" He growled.

Aw shit why did I let that slip? "Two males from another pack." I choked out.

"Do we know what pack?" He hissed.

I shook my head. Alpha then took the table piled with papers and flung it-causing the papers to fly in every which way painting the picture of a hurricane. Little did he know that was the way my heart was at the moment.  He then kicked the table so that it hit the wall causing the foundation of the building to tremble and shake.
