Wren (Elodie's Dad) POV

I paced my room for what seemed to be the thousandth time today. Why did everything have to fall apart now? My fourtress was broken into for the first time in nearly twenty years and then my daughter gets taken by two unknown werewolves to who knows where. Thinking about my Elodie lost somewhere-alone, scared. It was too much to bear.

I belted out in frustration while I dragged my fingers through my hair yet again. I was helpless. If I left to go find Elodie, the fortress risked destruction by another potential invasion. However if I stayed, my daughter remained unfound.

My Omega then entered the room knowing the cause of my distress. His face softened in pity as he began to announce who wanted to see me.

My wolf needed no introduction for my Luna had come. I had sent for her through our mindlink but waiting for her had taken an eternity. I strode over to her-still as beautiful as the day I found out she was mine. I embraced her familiar body, intaking her scent to calm my nerves.

"Thank you Omega, leave us now." I muttered meeting his gaze to see him nod and dissapear as he closed the door.

I kissed my mate but sadly she stopped me by saying, "I can't stay long."

I looked at her curoiusly to which she answered, "Someone has to keep an eye on the pack with you're gone."

"How long have you got?"

"About a half hour." She said rubbing my arm to soothe me.

"Mae I feel so useless." I said stepping away from her but not letting go of her hands. I could not meet her gaze.

"Don't." She said holding my chin in one of her hands and raising it so our eyes met, "You're needed here."

I let go of her and turned away in anger, "She's out there! Our girl!" My heavy fist connected with the top of the fireplace breaking off a few bricks.

"You're trying to rebuild this fortress dear not break it even more." She added-her voice rich with calamity.

"How are you so calm about this?" I spat grasping the edges of the now uneven fireplace.

"Don't think that I am in the least way calm about this." She began in the same tone, "I know what is at stake here, I am scared to." She added beginning to choke on her words.

I went to her and embraced her-the anger subsiding immeadiately with her near me.

"I have to go look." I said into her neck as I hugged her tighter.

"You can't." She whispered against my chest.

I sagged against her in defeat. The tears then came-slowly and then never ending. She guided me to a chair and set me down-coming around to the front to stoop down in front of me. Her eyes shone with unshed tears as she sturggled to hold onto what little control she had left.

"Have you no trust in the boy?" She choked out.

My head snapped away from her gaze as I thought about Chase-ignorant Chase who was the cause of all this.

"Don't you think for one second that this is all his fault." She said reading me like she always has.

"Don't you defend him. She ran out into the woods that day because of him!" I forced.

"He's our only chance of finding her!" She screeched rising to her feet, "And if you don't believe in him then she's as good as lost!"

"What does my approval have anything to do with whether or not he finds her?!" I asked staring at my wife's crumbling features.
