I was excited to say the very least. A good buddy of mine was helping his younger sister move to Tulsa because she had just graduated high school and she wanted to be where most of her family was. Her and I were best friends even though we only saw each other when she came to visit.

Although she's never met the gang before. I didn't realize how much I'd been gushing to them about her until Steve made some bright remark about it. Today was the day she was going to be moving. Her brother, Derrick pulled into the lot in a beat up black car. Y/n and her friend who had come along with her to say her goodbyes walked over to us and I introduced her to all of the gang and she shyly said hi to them. I noticed her eyes were a little red and puffy..
"Hey y/n your eyes are red. What happened?"

Her friend asked bringing everyone's attention to her. She wasn't paying attention to the gang who were all staring at her with confused looks. It was almost like we weren't there in her mind.
"Nothing happened."
She replied quietly

"What did that asshole do now y/n?!"
"He didn't do anything."
"Y/n you need to break up with him. If you won't do it for yourself do it for me! For someone who cares about you!" Her friend almost shouted. Worry evident in her voice.

My stomach dropped. I always liked her but I realized I'm in love with her. Hearing that she was in a relationship, especially with someone who was hurting her, made my blood boil.

"I can't break up with him!"
She replied back
"And why not?" Her friend asked crossing her arms
"Because I'm in love with him! He hurts me, yes, he always yells at me yes, he hurts my feelings without even caring, yes, but my god. I love him. Every once in a while, once a month maybe, he'll tell me I'm pretty, or that he loves me. It makes me feel special and I think it's worth it. Maybe I'm an idiot, but I care about him. Even if he doesn't love me. Plus, he never hits me. So that means something, right?"

My stomach dropped again, and I started to feel real nauseous. How could a girl so beautiful and amazing settle for a guy like that? I didn't know. I didn't want to know. I wanted her to be mine. I wouldn't make her settle for something so low. I would give her everything I could. I love her.

Her friend stood there not really knowing what to say. "Y/n..." she started "Listen, he doesn't love you. You ain't doin' nothin' but breaking your own heart."
Y/n looked her friend deep in the eyes

And with that she turned and started to walk away
"Hey where ya goin'?"
Her friend called.
"To my dads house. I need to think."
And with that, she was gone.
