Did you send off the tapes man?." I asked my brother

Yeah I did but this is crazy man why can't you just talk to her?." His brother asked him

My brother Christain and I walked down the hall of LeFlore High School. I was a junior and he was a senior. It was homecoming week and everyone was in the spirit.

I can't man she'll laugh in my face plus what if she likes you."Chris sighed

I ain't gonna do nothing but break her heart she's better with you man. You've been sending her these songs you wrote for a like a month eventually she's gonna want to meet her mystery singer." We laughed

I'll think about it. I'll see you at practice." We dapped up

My brother and I were on the football team and I was pretty cool with all the seniors and alot of people knew me but they didn't. I was the quiet one just sitting back watching. I made my way into honors finite math and took my usual seat in the front next to her. As usual she looked my way and smiled but this time she did something more. She talked to me.

Hey." Zoey smiles

Wassup," He replies nervously

Were having live performers for the homecoming week new artist slam if you or anyone wants to sign up here's the flyer." She handed it to me

Honors finite math went by fast when you knew what you were doing. As I packed my things I waved bye to my little buddy Chris and plugged my headphones in. Some guy thats crushing on me has been sending me his music every Friday and I can honestly say I always looked forward to that email. His new song anonymous played and It sounded great.

Zoey!." My friend Ayesha scared me

Bitch I almost slapped you. What's up?." We laughed

Did he send you a new song last Friday?." She asked as I opened my locker

Girl yes. It's called anonymous." Zoe smiled

Aww this is so cute. When is he gonna introduce himself? I mean the songs are nice but what if he's really a serial killer preying on skinny light skin women," Ayesha asked?

Then I hope he gets you first," She joked

Hopefully you meet soon he sounds so sexy so im anxious to see what he looks like," Her friend said

As we walked to the cafteria, we passed my buddy Chris. I take my headphones out and stopped him. He took his out as well and smiled shyly at me.

Have you thought about the party?." She asks while clutching on her binders

I don't think so. I'm not even going but thanks for asking." Chris said

Aww. Okay well if you change your mind just text me my number should be on the flyer," I replied

As the two stood there Zoe accidentally turned her music back on and the song played. As I scrambled to turn it off I see Chris's eyes get wide and he starts humming along.

You know this song?," I asked weirdly

No! I thought that was Micahel Jackson." He said

Yeah it has a MJ beat." She said

I'll see you later," He left

You don't think that he?... Ya know," Zoey asked Ayesha

The girls looked at each other and replied with "Nah" In unison as they laughed and went to the cafeteria.

I sat in my room writing this new song called "Yo".For some reason I had a mean case of writers block and couldn't figure out what I wanted to say like damn man I can't get my words out in person and i can't even get my words out through something I love and can easily do.

Come in," Some one knocked

Aye man what's up with the new artist slam on Friday?." My brother asked

I'm not going after the game I'm in for the night," Chris answers

But why? I heard Zoe invited you personally that's a sign G," Christain replied

Please leave," He told him

I already signed you up for it so be ready Friday at 9." His brother spoke fast

GET THE FUCK--Wait what?." I sat up

Just be ready," His brother yelled already out the door

4 days later..

Hey Zoe can I talk to you?." Chris ran to her out of breath

Hey Chris you ready for tonight?," She asked

No as of matter of fact I can't do it tonight," He said

Why? I was actually looking forward to your performance I didn't know you were an artist," Zoe said looking actually sad

There's this girl that's gonna be there and the song is about her and I don't know if she likes me i havent even talked to her," he said in almost one sentence

Okay calm down your still gonna do it and I'm sure whatever girl it is she'll love it and she'll be lucky to get you if she don't I will just relax. Now i gotta go to study hall before practice I'll see you later," She hugged me and walked off

Damnit Christain this nigga done got me into some shit I'm not gonna be able to get out of.
