Raghu squinted at the alleyway through the falling droplets of rain. His handheld transmitter crackled to life.
'Everyone in position. Over'
'Take cover. Keep a look out for any member from Razak's gang. Over.'

Raghuvaran IPS, one of the most brilliant cops in the police force hadn't planned to spent his Friday evening in a filthy slum. He had plans to catch up with a long lost friend at a Club. But instead  he had to cancel his plans and rush to the communal colony with his force to get hold of a lowly drug lord who had been giving them the slip everytime they get close to catching him. This time Raghu was resolved to catch him no matter what.

He kept straining to see through the heavy rain falling.
Suddenly he saw a flash of movement towards his left.  He quickly turned pointing his gun towards the movement and walked in the direction of the movement. He didn't find any one so he decided to keep walking , ocassionaly looking over his shoulders.

Suddenly he heard a soft groan. It seemed like that it was produced by a woman . He followed the direction of the groan only to be stopped by the cackling of men. He looked around the half made brick wall, making sure he was hidden well. He saw three men looking down at something hidden from his view, with maniac grins sparking in their eyes. He was sure the three men were from Razak's Gang and one of them was the main drug supplier to the popular schools and colleges in the area. He clicked his transmitter on and whispered.
'Need backup. South of the Alleyway, behind the bus station. Over.'
He observed his surroundings. No one was in sight.
He couldn't take a chance and wait for backup. He decided to go in an confront them.
He came out of his hiding and slowly walked towards the men.
The men seemed to be struggling with something heavy on the ground. All of them were panting and suddenly he heard the sound of fabric being shredded into pieces.
He couldn't be more bothered at what these hooligans were doing in their free time. He just wanted to arrest them, put them behind the bars and have a relaxing no-strings attached weekend with the ex girlfriend that was visiting town.

"Hands behind your head", he bellowed at them. The men looked up, terror masking their faces. They looked down at the thing they were doing and back at his face and then looked at each other before scrambling to run as far away from Raghu as possible.
But Raghu had anticipated this and came with a loaded gun. He had gave them at chance to surrender without any blood shed. He wasn't going to waste any more  of his or their time by chasing after them. He clicked off his gun safety and pulled the trigger three times,  each time aiming at one of the three of his preys' calves.
The three of them were writhing in pain in no time. As he moved towards the disabled men, he turned to look at the spot where they were huddled at.
He was horrified by the sight he saw.
It was a girl with a bloodied face. The clothes that used to cover her body once were ripped to shreds. Not able to look at the mangled body of the girl anymore, he pulled a long fabric of cloth pinned to a nearby clothesline pegged to a wall and covered her body to preserve her modesty.
He clicked on his transmitter again and requested for two ambulances. He waited with the girl as his back up forces arrived to carry away the men for more questioning regarding the whereabouts of Razak.
Something about the girl was familiar to him.
He looked at her bloodied face closely.
Realisation struck his face. His colleagues saw his face turn from that of a blank expression to a horrified one and finally into a pained one is he started clutching the limp body of the girl to his chest, crying out of rather screaming the name, 'Revathy.'
