Alexia POV
“When’s the last time the shaft was replaced?” a man asked. My gear was in a table in front of me.
“Tsk, six days ago, after the cleaning operation” I replied.
I watch the man looked at the woman that was standing next to him with a clipboard.
“She’s checked out” the woman replied.
“Okay, next!” the man yelled.
“I’m Krista Lenz of the 42nd Squad” Krista said. She was standing next to me.
“We’ll inspect your gear” the man replied.
“So, you can get punished for killing a Titan?” Sophia asked.
“Strange as it sounds, those were valuable specimen” I replied.
“But why are they searching for the culprit among us?” Sasha asked.
“Tsk, I don’t know, brat” I said.
Lizzy POV
“The culprit must’ve really hated Titans” Connie said.
“Yeah” I replied.
“But in this case, they pretty much helped the Titans out. Their lust for revenge may have been sated, but mankind will suffer for it” Armin replied.
“I don’t think it’s because of revenge that the culprit killed the Titans” I said.
“What do you mean?” Armin asked.
“I mean that it was not for revenge. I think the culprit doesn’t want the truth to be spilled out or something like that” I explained with a smile.
“Are you sure?” Connie asked.
“Yup, don’t you think I’m right, Annie?” I asked.
Just then, I watch her jolt a bit in shock but stayed calm.
“I don’t know” Annie replied calmly.
“I’m an idiot, so I think I get it” Connie replied. He then sighed.
“Before I saw a Titan, I seriously planned to enlist in the Survey Corps…” he began.
“But now, I’m not sure” he replied.
“Mmm… Well, I’m still joining the Survey Corps” I replied.
“Whether I like it or not” I added.
“Is it because Alex is joining the Survey Corps?” Connie asked.
I was about to answer, but Armin cut me short.
“Don't even say that it’s because of friendship because, to me, Alex doesn't see it that way” Armin said.
“Armin, Alex always expresses her feelings differently. Even if she didn’t, we are not even doing this because of friendship. We’re doing because of a contract” I said, but then froze when I realized what I had just said.
“A contract?” Armin asked.
“I’m sorry, guys. That’s a story that’s out of my league" I replied with a nervous laugh.
“Hey, Annie. What did you think? Jean of all people said he’d enlist in the Survey Corps” Connie asked.
“Huh? Jean did?” Armin asked.
“Nothing really” Annie replied.
“You’re set on the Military Police Bridge, right?” I asked.
