Rain

I want to sleep outside in a rainstorm
And taste the lightning in the air.

I want the rain to pour over me,
Drenching me to the bone.

I want to feel the thunder rumble through my soul,
Singing me to sleep with its deep, harsh lullaby.

I want to inhale the storm
And let it fill every inch of me with electricity.

Instead I stare longingly through this window
That separates me from its cool breeze,
Wishing I was there rather than here,
Wishing I was the charged air that I cannot even taste
Through these thick, impenetrable walls.
