IX

TEMPLE NIGHT

I ran a hand through my hair as I got all of the bugs out of it. We raced through the tunnels as Jonathan screamed,
"Did you see that? It was a horde of locusts!"

Rick pulled me along as we continued to run,
"That's a plague right?"

As Evie thought of a reasonable explanation I cleared my throat,
"Yes, it is."

All of the sudden the ground beneath us began shake violently as a pile of sand started rising up from the ground. All of the sudden hundreds of Scrabs bursted out of it. Rick pushed me backwards as we ran,
"Go! Go!"

We all continued to sprint when we came into another room. Rick, Jonathan, and Evelyn all jumped onto a pedestal on our right as I jumped onto a ledge to our left. I let out a breath as I leaned against the wall. I felt the wall shift as I fell backwards. I squealed when I landed on my ass in a dark room. I sighed and brushed myself off, where was I?

I squinted my eyes as I noticed there was a familiar figure standing in the center of the room. I let out a sigh of relief as I recognized who it was,
"Oh Mr.Burns I thought I was alone for a moment. I got separated from my friends."

He slowly turned around and my hand shot over my mouth tho suppress my scream, his eyes were missing. He staggered towards me as he lisped,
"My eyess!"

HIs tongue was missing oh my god.

I backed away as he moved towards me. I bumped into something, I quickly turned around only to scream bloody murder. It was the mummy. The mummy we had discovered. My heart raced as I backed away and into the wall. The mummy began to walk towards me as I breathed out,
"Burns you need to get out of here right now."

"Ashara." The mummy said in ancient Egyptian.

My whole body froze as I realized that he had been the one calling me that. He leaned towards me as I was struck in fear. He outstretched his hand for me to take,
"Come with me Princess."

I vigorously shook my head no as I heard people running in the hall next to us. I saw a figure run into the room, Rick.

Rick grabbed my hand as I stood frozen in fear,
"There you are! Stop playing hide and seek. Come on let's get out of here."

He gave me a strange look when I didn't move before he followed my gaze. He jumped in shock,
"Woah!"

"Arianna!" I heard Jonathan yell.

I saw him run in and stop when he saw the mummy which caused Evelyn, Henderson, and Daniels to crash into him. The mummy looked in their direction before turning back to us and screaming loudly. I flinched before Rick screamed back at him and shot him with the shot gun causing it to fall to the ground. Rick tightly grabbed my hand and pulled me away,
"Move!"

I sprinted next to him as we all ran out of the room. We continued to run until we were outside where we were met with the same men who attacked us last night. I crashed into Rick as I gripped his hand. I saw the leader glare at me, I glared right back at him.

The leader glared at everyone before saying,
"I told you to leave or die. You refused. Now you may have killed us all. You have unleashed a creature we have feared for more than 4,000 years."
