Mia got up from the ground while hissing in pain. Taking in a deep breath, she got up and run for her freedom. Her sprained ankle and bruised arm inflicted pain with each step she took, but she didn't care.
All that mattered was her freedom.

She run through the thick woods, not caring about all the tree branches and thorn bushes that stood in her way. It was dark and gloomy. They perfectly resembled those in horror movies. Its aura screamed stay away but judging by her situation. There was no way she was turning back.

Her breathing was rapid. Her heart pounding hard against her chest as if ready to jump out at any second.
Her foot suddenly tripped over a rock, sending her face into the dump ground. A scream left her lips at the impact.
Mia groaned in pain as leaned on her arms.
Her body was screaming in pain but she still wanted to get up. She felt like her time was running out. Her guts were telling her that they probably noticed her little escape and were coming after her.
Besides, Kayden might have already spilt the beans. She didn't quite trust him

Sob after sob left her lips as she forced herself to get up.
All her body wanted was to rest but she had to keep going if she wanted to live.
Taking in a deep breath, she was about to start walking when she heard a tree branch snap.
Her breathing stopped and so did her movements. She looked around slowly but so nothing.

She assured herself and continued limping her way off, but stopped again when she heard another sound.

Listening to it attentively, she realized that the sounds sounded more like footsteps.

"Run"
Her instincts screamed and she did. She run as fast as she could and the footsteps became louder
More adrenaline kicked in each second as she could now hear multiple footsteps.

Mia continued running. Ignoring the pain coming from her both her arm and ankle or In other words, everywhere. For now, she had to be immune to pain if she wanted her freedom. She had to go home. She had to see her mother.

Tears run down her cheeks when she knew whoever was chasing her was getting close.
She panicked and the only thing she could do was think of a place to hide.
She looked around hastily and found a huge tree to her right. Not wasting any more time, she rushed towards it and hid behind it in a ball.

It was quiet for a few seconds until she heard a few voices.
" Where the fuck is she?...boss will kill us if we don't find her" she heard a guy say.

" Come to think of it. Why does it seem like the boss is in deep with this girl" another guy said.

" No way. Boss in deep with a woman? Never gonna happen" another guy said.
Mia wondered what they were talking about and almost made a sound but immediately covered her mouth.

Seconds later she heard the run in the opposite direction from where she was. Mia sighed and made a quick silent thank you to God.

She hissed in pain as she stood up while using the tree for support.
When she was finally up. She was to her right and the coast was clear.
Looking to her left.

Her breathing stopped when she came face to face with a furious De Luca, who looked nothing but murderous.

And just like that, Mia knew she was

soon going

to be joining

her

ancestors.
