Discarding skirts for pants Gwen follows Michael. The woods darkness only priced by the lantern Michel carries. Nature the only thing making a sound for company. Reaching a small cabin they enter. Her eyes roam the small space, earth serving as its floor. Gwen gasps as her eyes widen, staring into brown pleading ones. Belonging to a young boy gagged bruises and cuts covering him. Heavy chains wrapped around him, anchored into the ground.

“What crime has committed to be treated so harshly ?” Gwen questions.

Michael setting the lantern down answers, “He is a vampire, has killed many innocents. Only thing he cares for is blood,” taking his knife Michael cuts his hand. Immediately the boy tries to fight his bounds jerking towards Michael. Eyes now surrounded by red, “See.”

Still Gwen questions Michael, “Why did you bring me here? How long have you been keeping him here? Why not end it?”

Wrapping his hand in a bandage Michael calmly responds, “For a week, I have been questioning him where others are. As for why you are here,” he moves closer, “ verbal lessons are done, time to practice on a real target."

“He is a child ...I can’t.”

“No he is a vampire who is older than both of us, “ Michael gently grips her shoulder, “End it quickly, put him out of his misery and save him from a life of blood and violence.”

Michael is right I’m saving him, comforted by her thoughts Gwen walks towards the boy. Who desperately tries to get away. A futile plan as the chains hold him in place. I just have to be fast, Gwen kneels down. Hands shaking she cups his face eyes staring into his brown fearful eyes.

“Think of his heart, nothing else,’ Micheal instructs.

And she does tears falling as the boy screams through his gag. Black veins appearing on his chest, body shuddering under her touch. After a minute he stops moving, eyes now empty. Gwen drowns in her thoughts, did I save him from a life forced on him or become a murderer of someone innocent ?
