"What is so important about this particle accelerator anyway?" Oliver asks Barry, sprawled with him on Barry's couch.
Barry scoops guacamole onto his tortilla chip, eating it in one swift bite. After he swallows it, he licks his lips to answer. "Harrison Wells' work in quantum theory is light-years ahead of anything they're doing at CERN."
"You're doing that thing where you're not speaking English." Oliver teases the ever so adorable CSI.
More than he'd like to admit it, he likes knowing a scientist. It hasn't been long since he's known Barry, today marking only the third day, but it didn't take Oliver more than a second since he saw him sitting with his legs crossed in a jail cell to know that Barry is different- special even. Since then, Oliver has picked up on the little things that complimented Barry's character, despite being 'off' on other very obvious things. One thing Oliver had noticed is when Barry goes on to speak about Science, something far from Oliver's ability to percept and a subject he didn't care to learn from years of curriculum and the various colleges he chose to drop out of.
But somehow here, with little space between him and Barry Allen, in the comfort of Barry's warm home, he found himself wanting to learn. He found himself wanting to know more. He found himself wanting to listen to what Barry had to say.
Barry is the sole reason why Oliver felt a draw to Science- something he's never felt until now.
"Okay," Barry says, dropping his head to giggle. He leans his body over his crossed legs to grab the notepad and pen that sat on the living room table across from them. He searches for an empty page, allowing Oliver to briefly spot pages filled with various writings, equations and doodles. His heart races, finding himself insecure at how much more smart Barry is than him- not because he wants to be smarter, but because he was starting to feel like he wasn't smart enough... like he wasn't smart enough for Barry.
Landing his eyes on an empty page, Barry clicks his pen and carefully draws a dot on the very center of it. With the pen in his hand, he points at the dot with his finger, then looks directly into Oliver's eyes. "Just imagine that that dot, is everything the human race has ever learned until this moment."
"Does that include twerking?" Oliver playfully asks, followed by a muffled laugh.
Barry ignores him. "That," he says as he draws a large circle around the dot. "Is everything we could learn from the particle accelerator. It's a whole new way of looking at physics!" Still holding the notepad and pen with one hand, he moves a little closer towards Oliver. "It will literally change the way that we think about everything!" He finishes with a grand smile across his face.
Oliver lays both of his hands on Barry's shoulders. "You gotta get yourself a girlfriend." He teases him once again, still reluctant to share that he loves when Barry spoke Science with a massive smile painted across his handsome face.
"Hey, you asked for my input on Dr. Wells and his proposal for you to fund the particle accelerator." Barry defends himself from Oliver's teases.
"That I did." Oliver nods with a grin.
"Besides," Barry leans in a little closer. With their lips a breach from a touch, he whispers, "Why should I get myself a girlfriend when I already have myself a boyfriend?" For what felt like an eternity, Barry stares into Oliver's eyes with some sort of desire. A part of Oliver felt it too, but once Barry closes his eyes shut and leans even closer to kiss him, Oliver pulls himself away.
"Barry," Oliver says under his breath, his heart beating faster than ever before when being with Barry, nearly amounting to what he felt after their first kiss despite not kissing.
