An End and a Beginning

Several minutes pass by and with Barry and Bea still by each other's side, they study the breach The Flash had created just waiting for Oliver - in his case - and Chamber - in her case - to return to them. Their heads are so wrapped up on the status of those they love that they can't stop for one second and realize that they've time-traveled for the second time.

A CSI, a lover of all things science, can't appreciate time travel.

Time travel.

"I shouldn't have left him," the CSI sobs, pushing tears out of the cells that are his eyes as he watches the magical door between time progressively compress. Yeah, he can't even appreciate that because worry happens to infect the blood pooling through the veins that arrive into the home of his heart. Even though Oliver was the one to volunteer to rescue Chamber, he believes he is the one that is to blame for Oliver's fate. "I left him behind, Beatrice," his voice cracks, "I left him behind."

Before Bea can offer him any sort of comfort, Chamber finally appears, surrendering her presence to her past. She's now breathing in a world where the Smoak bloodline isn't ready to cease from existence that is roughly determined by her fate; a world that is dated almost two-hundred years prior to hers; a world of... light.

"Bea," she cries, running away from the location of the breach into Bea's arms. She hugs her gently to avoid pressing down on any of her wounds, afraid to inflict more pain on her potential daughter than she already has.

"Mom," she voices. She accepts Chamber's hug by wrapping her arms around the taller Smoak that also wears her old face. She slightly shifts her chin on the sheet of Chamber's shoulder to better her ease within the lock of her hold. "You're here."

"I am," Chamber whispers. "And I promise you I always will be."

"I shouldn't have left him there with him," Barry continues on, ignoring the new-found love happening within the scene. As he is ruining the mood that is promised in a family reunion, it summons the Smoaks to part away from each other and Chamber proceeding to gift Bea an approving nod which is practiced to encourage her to aid her friend in his crisis.

Bea attempts to swipe his attention away from the man he loves and redirects it to her instead by calling his name repeatedly in the breaths of his speech of guilt.

"I should've... I should've stayed behind... o-or, or make him come with us, or run after Chamber myself. I should've-"

"Barry!" Bea shouts for the twentieth time in a higher volume, finally luring his active gaze to her. "Oliver can take care of himself, okay?" She develops the performance of reassurance by walking away from her mother and closer to her friend, granting her better access to rest her hands on his shoulders. Firmly, she tells him, "I know it, you know it, and he knows it. He'll be fine."

"He'll be fine?" Barry's eyes fill with tears. The ache embedded in the chamber locked within his chest that is birthed to love the one and only Oliver Queen is evident through his tone. The desiccation of life on his face further develops that Queen-sized ache, replaced with a mask of darkness he's spent months hiding from. It's not the type of I-lost-my-parents darkness, or even the I-have-no-purpose-in-life darkness he's felt every now and then, obviously. It's the type of darkness that is felt when losing the love of your life. He's lost him so many times, clearly he can't bear another.

"Fine like the time he got on that boat? Or fine like the time he got struck by lightning?" His voice breaks yet again and he feels his limbs grow tired. Ready to collapse, Bea quickly catches his expectant fall. "What if he doesn't come home? What if-"
