A Deadly Deal

"You should call Bonnie," Rebekah suggests as I walk into the kitchen. Rebekah and I were the only ones left at the house. The others had left to find Finn hours ago. I had successfully done a locator spell to find Finn, using Gwen's blood. It turns out that he's in Chicago. The four of them had left, leaving Rebekah with me to make sure I stay put.

"Why should I call Bonnie," I ask.

"She's a witch," Rebekah says, pouring me a glass of blood, "maybe she can help you cope with the new powers."

"You do realize she's Elena's best friend, right," I ask her.

She hands me the cup, smiling, "of course I know that. Would you rather deal with her or deal with staying in this house longer than you need to?"

"What are you going to do if I try to leave," I ask.

"Snap your neck," Rebekah says. My phone starts ringing and I see her smile, "maybe Bonnie's calling." She walks out of the kitchen, humming to herself.

I sigh and answer my phone, "hello?"

"Cecily, this is Carol Lockwood," the mayor says on the other line.

"Carol hi how are you," I ask, "it's been a long time."

"I'm good considering that the Originals are in town," Carol says, "we need to talk."

"Ok," I say.

"If I hadn't attended the Mikaelson ball then I wouldn't have known that you're a Mikaelson," Carol says.

I sigh, "I'm sorry I lied to you. It was for my safety that everyone not know who I was."

"I understand," Carol says, "but it's because of that that I'm calling you."

"What's wrong," I ask.

"You know how last night was the Wickery Bridge reopening ceremony," Carol asks.

"Oh my god, I totally forgot about that," I lie. I had no idea that the Wickery Bridge was even having work done on it.

"Caroline took the liberty of filling me in on the details of how to kill an Original," Carol says, "You need a white oak stake."

"That's correct," I say, "but I fail to understand why you called me."

"Yesterday, around noon, Stefan and Damon met with me at the Grill asking me about the oldest trees in the county," Carol says, "a white oak tree. I told them that there was one left and that it was being used to rebuild Wickery."

"Did they get it," I ask.

Carol sighs, "They did. I didn't realize at the time that a white oak stake could kill an Original."

"How many stakes do they have," I ask.

"Twelve," Carol says, "they know that the Originals are linked so that if one dies, they all die."

"Why are you telling me this," I ask.

"If the Salvatores go after the Mikaelsons, it will be war," Carol says, "I'm concerned with the safety of this town. I don't have enough trained council members to go after the Salvatores and the Mikaelsons."

"So you want me to stop them," I ask her.

"Caroline also told me what happened between you and Esther," Carol says, "I know that you're a witch now."

"I'm not exactly 100% right now, Carol," I say, "my body is under a lot of stress. I don't know if I can handle the power."

"Well, I need you to," Carol says, "I need you to stop Stefan and Damon before the clouds rain blood in Mystic Falls."
