This is quite sad. But I got inspiration from the song.

The song is Piece by Piece by Kelly Clarkson.

Sorry for any mistakes, I wrote this at 2 in the morning not being able to sleep.

-----

"And all I remember is your back

Walking towards the airport, leaving us all in your past

I travelled fifteen hundred miles to see you

I begged you to want me, but you didn't want to

But piece by piece, he collected me up

Off the ground, where you abandoned things

Piece by piece he filled the holes that you burned in me

Six years old and you know

He never walks away

He never asks for money

He takes care of me

He loves me

Piece by piece, he restores my faith

That a man can be kind and the father could, stay

And all of your words fall flat

I made something of myself and now you wanna come back

But your love, it isn't free, it has to be earned

Back then I didn't have anything you needed so I was worthless

But piece by piece, he collected me up

Off the ground, where you abandoned things

Piece by piece he filled the holes that you burned in me

Six years old and you know

He never walks away

He never asks for money

He takes care of me

'Cause he loves me

Piece by piece, he restored my faith

That a man can be kind and a father could, stay

Piece by piece

Piece by piece I fell far from the tree

I will never leave her like you left me

And she will never have to wonder her worth

Because unlike you I'm going to put her first and you know

He'll never walk away,

He'll never break her heart

He'll take care of things, he'll love her

Piece by piece, he restored my faith

That a man can be kind and the father should be great

Piece by piece" You sing while strumming your guitar and looking out at the city from yours and Steve's room.

"You ok?" Steve asks, from where he is leaning up against the doorway.

"I saw my father today," You say not looking away from the window. "He tracked me down somehow and told me he wanted to get to know me, but turns out he only wanted money and fame"

"I'm so sorry babe," Steve says, sitting beside you "Is that where the inspiration for the song came from?"

"Yea. I am just glad Y/D/N has a father who loves her and wants to be in her life" You answer, before giving your husband a kiss.

"You know that I would do anything for my girls" Steve replies, taking your hand in his

"I know. That's why we are so lucky" You answer "I just wish he never came back into my life. My life is better without him and seeing him again just opened old wounds that should have stayed closed. The only good thing to come out of it was my Stepdad. He was always there for me and still is and I am even more thankful for him right this minute. He has always treated me like his own daughter, his own flesh and blood"

"I really wish I was there with you so that I could have kept him away for you. Was Y/D/N with you?" Steve asks

"No, thankfully. She was with her godparents" You answer playing with your entwined hands

"Where is Y/D/N? She always cheers you up" Steve asks

"She is napping" you reply before singing the end of the song again to Steve still playing with your entwined fingers.

"That part is about you and Y/D/N. She won't have to go through the same heartbreak as I did and I am thankful for that as I have found a wonderful man and a great father for my child and that is all I could ever ask for" You explain, tears running down your cheeks

"I love you and Y/D/N so much and I will do everything in my power to make you happy and be a great father to our little girl" Steve replies before pulling you into a kiss and wiping your tears.

"We love you too" you reply before you hear tiny footsteps down the hall "our angels up"

"Mammy, Daddy?" Y/D/N says

"Yes, Angel?" Steve asks

"I'm hungry" She replies making you smile

"How about we go out for food? Just the three of us" you ask

"Sounds good" Steve replies "doesn't it angel?"

Your daughter nods in reply

"Let's get you dressed then" you reply putting your guitar away and picking up your three-year-old while Steve smiles as his girls interact with one another wondering how he got such an amazing family and makes a vow to himself that 'he will always protect you both no matter what and he will not abandon your daughter, like your father abandoned you'.

And he never broke that vow.
