Hey! I'm back after 5 years what's good! Anyway I was gone for so long because I was working on something a little bit different. I will finish the 30 day OTP challenge but I haven't touched it in a while because I was working on this. It's just a kind of long angst-ish and I've never really wrote or read anything angst even this mildly because I did keep it pretty fluffy and light hearted still! Either way, enjoy and if you have any feed back I'd love to hear it!
Now, on with the fic!

"I got you this time Joker!" Batman shouted from the other end of the short alleyway The Joker had trapped himself in. They both started walking towards one another, "You think you have me?" Joker laughed.

They were almost face to face as Joker went on, "You have fallen right into my trap Batman-" he cut himself short when his eyes met the narrowed ones of the vigilante. Joker stared for a moment making the masked hero confused, "What?" Joker hesitantly brought up his hand and pointed at Batman's face. "Do I have something on my face," he grumbled and whipped his whole face but his eyes, "I thought Alfred cleaned this suit yesterday."

Joker carefully brought his hand to the left side of Batman's face where he lightly placed a thumb under the glowing blue eye and got an immediate reaction from the hero in black, he winced. Joker was almost shocked by the reaction but he guessed anyone would flitch with a black eye like that. The blue glowing eye was slightly faded obviously from not being as open, it was purple around the edges but it looked like most of the swelling had gone down.

"What happened?" Joker asked trying to get a better look at the bruised eye. Batman's eyes shifted all around being slightly uncomfortable with the bruised eye being poked at. "It's nothing," Batman gripped Jokers wrists to stop his snooping, "just got in a fight with another bad guy before I showed up here." Joker gave him a deadpan look.

"I know you better than that Bats. You haven't mentioned anyone this whole battle about how you've beaten the crud out of them today already and could easily do the same to me," they both stared at each other for a few moments. Joker tried to glare at Batman, trying to intimidate him in some way to make him fess up.

"Who gave you that black eye?" He asked sternly but not forcefully. Batman's eye looked anywhere but Joker as he mumbled something. "What was that?" Joker leaned in closer his head turned so his ear was right in front of Batman. The dark knight mumbled again but this time Joker heard it, "Superman."

Joker gasped a little, "Why? What happened?" Batman shrugged and shook his head, "Guess I scared him when I slipped out of the shadows, as I do," he chuckled to try to lighten the mood a bit, even completely dismiss the conversation in general but he couldn't think of where to go from here.

Joker smiled a bit but it was soon lost to the sadness and concern he felt for his boyfriend, "Why didn't you tell me?" He sounded so hurt, "Is this why you haven't called or fought me for a week?"

Batman slumped into himself, "I didn't think it was any of your business-it's not a big deal anyway! And why would I avoid you over a dumb black eye?"

"It is my damn business, I'm your boyfriend and nemesis! And apparently it is a big deal since you DID avoid me for a week and all clues point to that black eye!" Joker spat, jabbing Batman in the chest with his finger but quickly softened his domineer and sighed coldly. "I'm sorry," Batman's eyes shot up to stare at the clown.

Joker intertwined his fingers with Batman's, "I just hate seeing you like this and not seeing you at all," he looked at their hands then back at Batman to which the hero couldn't help but stare right back, "Tell me what's wrong Bruce. Please don't shut me out." Batman was stunned for a moment, Joker hardly ever used his real name, only when he was really upset or teasing him.

It took Batman a second to regain his thoughts but when he did he wanted to punch himself, it was so stupid, he made this huge mess and for what? His pride?

"I didn't...tell you," he kept his eyes locked on the ground, "because I didn't want you to think I was weak and then...want a new hero to fight."

Joker stared in bewildered. Hearing that he almost wanted to laugh, he got punched by Superman and left with only a black eye, that's the opposite of weak, plus the dude is only human, not some alien or genetic mutant.

"Do you really think I could ever replace you?" Batman just stared at the ground. "I couldn't," Joker said abruptly, "you could lose a thousand times to anyone and I'd still fight you."

Batman rolled his eyes, "Don't be ridiculous, you can't fight a hero that can't even fight."

Joker scoffed, "I know you can fight me just fine and that's all that matters to me!" He placed his hand on the side of Batman's face and made him look at him, "You need to stop being so hard on yourself Bats, you're just fine, " they smiled softly at each other but after a minute shifted uncomfortably.

"Now enough sappy stuff!" Joker took his hand away from Batman's face but gripped the one he was holding tighter, "let's go kick Superman's ass!"

Batman chuckled, "As much I'd love to do some power couple crap with you, you committed a crime so I have to bring you down to Babs."

"Or you can take me back to Wade manor and we can watch romcoms all night while cuddling," Joker smirked. It was obvious what Batman was going to pick.
