Spam time! It's holiday season and I have a bunch of fics written so as a super early Christmas gift to no one in particular I shall spam the stories I have! This is the only one that is actually Christmas/holiday related but that's fine lol, enjoy!
———————————————————————The Christmas lights shimmered and danced off of Stewie's eyes as he and Brian hopped out of the Prius into downtown Quahog. The holidays were always an important time for the canine and his companion and having a tradition of something important and bond-straightening happening around these times Brian was more than happy to continue this, especially for his favourite person in the world.
He had planned this outing about a month in advance just to mentally prepare himself, even so, he was beyond nervous. When the pair began to walk along the streets the holiday cheer coupled with Stewie being overjoyed with it as well helped Brian relax, he could do this, he had too, talking to Stewie was like drinking, the easiest thing to relieve stress.
He was quickly distracted by being dragged along suddenly by Stewie who pointed excitedly at a horse with a sled strapped to it. The lovely scent of peppermint and cinnamon filled the air as they got close and were greeted by a jolly man with a friendly smile and dark pink nose and cheeks, "Howdy! Looking to get a ride with Pudding and me?" He chuckled.
Stewie was patting the side of the horse's leg as he looked Brian, "Oh please Brian! He could take us to the bakery with the gingerbread men you get to decorate yourself!" Brian smiled at Stewie and handed the man ten dollars, he gently took it, his wrists jingling as they had a set of bells around them and Brian and Stewie climbed into the sleigh.
Brian plopped down next to Stewie and off they went, admiring the decorations as they passed. Quahog is always the prettiest this time of year. A small gust of wind blew over them and they shivered, Stewie snuggled in close to Brian's side making the other chuckle slightly awkwardly but take the boy's mittened hand in his paw.
They soon arrived at an empty park across from the bakery and hoped out but not without the driver handing them classic candy canes and wishing them a happy holiday before another couple got in and left.
Even from across the street the welcoming smell of fresh baked goods reached Brian's nose and he inhaled deeply, "Ready Stewie?" he looked down to his side with an affectionate smile which quickly fell as soon as he saw no one beside him. Before he could call out Brian felt a small thud on his back and an excited cheer, "Ha! I got you!" Stewie began to gather up more snow and packed it into a tight ball.
He tossed it but Brian stepped out of the way, "You wanna play huh?" Brian kneeled down smirking and scooped some snow of his own and balled it up, he tossed it and it hit Stewie right in the chest, he laughed cockily. Then a war broke out. Hiding behind benches, witty remarks, and many hits and misses with snowballs later and the two collapsed into some fluffy white snow in a huff with huge smiles on their faces.
After a moment it sank into Brian, this was his chance, now or...maybe later? No! Now! "Hey uh...Stewie?" He didn't turn to look at the boy, he didn't even move. "Yea?" Stewie didn't turn either. Brian took a minute to actually be in the train of thought he was going with and finally muttered out "I need to tell you something," "Figured." They both laughed lightly but a comfortable silence fell over them as Brian searched for the words he had practiced a million times.
"I uh..." Brian started hesitantly, he grabbed Stewie's hand gently and relaxed a bit, "I love you."
Stewie finally turned to the dog smiling brightly. Brian still hadn't turned, he felt like he couldn't, that if he did he would close right back up and not get anywhere, he at least needed to say these words so Stewie truly knew and to confirm something for himself. "I love you too Bri-" "And I never want you to leave my side," Stewie opened his mouth to respond but he knew what Brian was doing and closed it, keeping his eyes on the canine.
Brian's grip on Stewie's hand tightened a bit, "And I know I'm a pain in the ass and an asshole and a piece of shit but I appreciate you staying with me because you..." Brian paused for a second to collect himself, he had come this far, all the walls were down at this moment and there was no way, even if he wanted to, to build them back up quick enough. "You make me feel like not as big of a piece of shit...and make me want to be less of an asshole. You help me be a better me and nothing I could ever say or do could ever compare to that gift you've given me but I do...want to give you something that will come close I hope."
Brian sat up and dug around in his pocket. Once he found what he was looking for he sat on his knees and got closer to Stewie who sat up as well.
Stewie's jaw slightly dropped as he looked at the silver band Brian presented to him in his hand. The words "Awfully different" were engraved into it and Stewie began to tear up as he looked up at Brian who refused to meet his eyes.
"Just to show as a promise...that you mean so much to me," Brian slowly met the others gaze. He was immediately ambushed by the boy with a passionate kiss which he happily returned.
"I love you too idiot, you're the best thing to ever happen to me," Stewie sniffled and wiped his eyes. He sat back in front of Brian and took off one of his mittens holding out his hand like a princess, "Now ring me before my hand freezes off."
They both laughed through teary eyes while Brian slipped the ring onto Stewie's ring finger, giving the boy a kiss on the cheek. He pulled Brian into a hug and outstretched his arm to admire the ring, it glinted under the lamppost nearby.
The rest of the night the duo ran around downtown Quahog eating festive treats and enjoying whatever else was offered. It eventually came to an end as they loaded into the car where Stewie instantly fell asleep on the ride home.
Brian tucked him and Stewie into the crib giving the boy one last kiss on the cheek. Brian could definitely get use to this tradition.
