Do you know how long
It takes to mend a broken heart?
Well how about
A broken head? One so in need of repair
It wants to be dead
Let it be said
That it is full of dreadAll we do is take and take
When all it wants is to rest
I can honestly say
I'm doing my bestI try and
Try
And try againMaybe perhaps I'm on
The mendBut still I cannot
Seem to go to bedI do not seem to be
Mad
Or sadBut I have discovered that recovery
Takes a lot more
Then trying to smileBecause a broken head
Does not like going to bedAnd it also doesn't quite like itself
So when you ask me if
I'm okayThe answer is
Recovery is not linear
It is actually quite trickerAnd the path I follow
Does not lead to a finish line
While I walk through it blindSo if you want to help
Try to lead the blind
For we are lost
But not hopelessAnd what's lead us to this moment
Is not allowing ourselves to feel worth it
enough to be guided-for we are lost, but not completely broken-

Paths: A collection of Poems and Short Stories
PoetryThese are poems and some short stories I have written over the years. Some are good, some are from a younger me. I have a deep love for poetry and I hope anybody who reads these poems and stories enjoys them as well.
