Guiding the Blind

Do you know how long
It takes to mend a broken heart?
Well how about
A broken head?

One so in need of repair
It wants to be dead
Let it be said
That it is full of dread

All we do is take and take
When all it wants is to rest
I can honestly say
I'm doing my best

I try and
Try
And try again

Maybe perhaps I'm on
The mend

But still I cannot
Seem to go to bed

I do not seem to be
Mad
Or sad

But I have discovered that recovery
Takes a lot more
Then trying to smile

Because a broken head
Does not like going to bed

And it also doesn't quite like itself

So when you ask me if
I'm okay

The answer is
Recovery is not linear
It is actually quite tricker

And the path I follow
Does not lead to a finish line
While I walk through it blind

So if you want to help
Try to lead the blind
For we are lost
But not hopeless

And what's lead us to this moment
Is not allowing ourselves to feel worth it
enough to be guided

-for we are lost, but not completely broken-
